abeginnertakesthemtooseriouslyandmissesoutonalargeandsubstantialpartofthelearningprocess.
Suchrebelornontraditionalmethodologiesmayperhapsbefinefordiscussionwithawellgrounded
astrologer.Butitisaverygoodideaforabeginnertosticktotraditional,soastoavoidthecommon
pitfalls.Theaveragelearnertriesvariousmethodswithpartialknowledge,hopsfromoneauthortothe
other,managestocatchpiecesofinformationfromeachplaceandperson,andeventuallytriestomake

generallyforanyactivity.ButanastrologermaychooseaTuesdayforaKrooraandUgraactivity,aftera
closestudyofthechartandthePanchanga,sinceTuesdayhasanUgraKrura(AggressiveCruel)qualityto
it.SoTuesdaysareconsideredforactivitieslike'rogamuktasnana'(takingbathafterrecoveringfrom
illness),cultivationofland,actsinvolvingkillingofbirds/animalsetc(notthatIapprovesuchactivities!).
Butthisdoesntcontradictthegeneralversesthatstatethattuesdaysareinauspicious,sincethetextsstate
elsewherethattuesdaysmaybeconsideredfor*someactivities.Soquotingoneverseandtryingtojustifya
viewthatnostandardtextonmuhurtasupportsishighlymisleading.

AsfortheoriginalquestionofwhetherYogaistobeusedasanintegralpartofthePanchanga,ithasbeen
usedandSHOULDbeusedasanimportantlimbofthePanchanga,asitwasmeanttobe.Anyattemptto
distortthisfactcannotbejustified,asthestandardtextsunambigiouslydeclareYoganotonlyasanintegral

limbofthePanchangam,butalsoasaveryimportantconsideration,sinceitcanspoiltheeffectsofan
otherwisecarefullychosenmuhurta.
