Product Release Letter

To Install product release:
AVEVA Everything3D product supports the ability for the online help to be accessed by default
from the AVEVA help server (help.aveva.com). It is also possible for the help files to be
downloaded and installed either on each user's local machine, on a central shared file server or a
local intranet web server. The following details the configuration required to achieve each option.
Online Help Accessed from AVEVA Help Server
Online help accessed from the AVEVA Help Server is set as default and no configuration is
required by the user.
Online Help Installed on a Local Users Machine
To install the online help files on a local users machine, the files must be downloaded from the
support site. The downloaded file must be unzipped into a suitable directory, for example:
C:\Documentation\AVEVA\Help

The user must now change the environment variable AVEVA_DESIGN_HELP_HOST to target the
online help. Any .bat file used to configure the AVEVA E3D environment, for example launch.init
can be used.
set AVEVA_DESIGN_HELP_HOST=file://C:\Documentation\AVEVA\help\

Correct configuration can be tested by entering this value followed by "index.html" into the
address field of your web browser.

Online Help Installed on a Shared File Server

To install the online help files on a shared file server, the files must be downloaded from the
support site. The downloaded file must be unzipped into a suitable directory on the shared file
server.
The user must now change the environment variable AVEVA_DESIGN_HELP_HOST to target the
online help. Any .bat file used to configure the AVEVA E3D environment, for example launch.init
can be used.
set AVEVA_DESIGN_HELP_HOST=file://\\fileserver1\AVEVA\Help\

Host the Help Files on a Local Web Server

A new website can be created using, for example IIS and the help zip file used as the web site
contents. In this case the environment variable should be set to something like the following:
Set AVEVA_DESIGN_HELP_HOST=http://webserver/AVEVA_HELP/

Correct configuration can be tested by entering this value into the address field of your web
browser.
Catalogue and Admin
For Catalogue and Admin to work with the online help hosted locally the user must create a bat
which should contain something like:
rem Create hard links for Catalogue, Admin and global
mklink /D AVEVA_Catalogue %AVEVA_DESIGN_HELP_HOST%\AVEVA_Everything_3D
mklink /D AVEVA_Administration %AVEVA_DESIGN_HELP_HOST%\AVEVA_Everything_3D
mklink /d AVEVA_Global %AVEVA_DESIGN_HELP_HOST%\AVEVA_Everything_3D

The bat requires running once with the previously created AVEVA_DESIGN_HELP_HOST
directory.

PRODUCT QUALITY STATEMENT

The development, maintenance and testing of AVEVA Solutions software products is carried out
in accordance with the companys KEYSTONE lifecycle processes and this document includes a
summary of the testing carried out on this release and a list of significant defects known to exist at
the time of release.

Development Testing
Developers have carried out unit testing of each enhancement and/or fix in the development
environment to verify that any new functionalities have been correctly implemented and identified
defects have been corrected.
Regression tests have been run in the development environment to verify that enhancements
and/or fixes have not adversely affected the integrity of the product.

System Testing
Independent system testing has been carried out on the product, as released, to verify that it
installs correctly in all supported configurations and that product functionality operates as
intended, subject to any known exceptions listed below.

Acceptance Testing
This document has been prepared before Acceptance Testing. This product release will be
subjected to an acceptance test by AVEVAs Group Solutions Centre.
Any exceptions found during Acceptance Testing or after release will be reported in the Product
Release Latest Update Note on AVEVA's support web site
http://downloads.aveva.com/52357/w52357.pdf .
