In OMLY T-code, select Determine Search Sequence. Then select your Warehouse Number.

- You will create multiple entries for your warehouse.

- You need to select combination of your warehouse number with operation type and then
enter the storage types in which the system has to search while doing a putaway or stock
removal etc.
For Storage Bin Search, you can also follow the same steps.
The basic logic of storage type search used by system (SAP) during putaway and picking of
materials are as follows:
1) First system looks the storage type indicator assigned to material master.
2) System also checks whether any fixed bin assigned to material master or not.
3) Based on the above information, control goes to storage search table and it search the
storage type based on following parameters:
a) System checks the material category
b) System checks movement type references
c) System check storage classes also
d) WPC classes also checked
e) System also check storage type ind.
Based on the above information defined in search table, system proposes the correct
storage type based on the sequence defined for putaway and picking movement.
Once the storage type is selected, then system search the correct bin according to the
putaway and picking strategy defined for the storage type also system check following
setting before proposing the bins.
1) Storage type linked to storage unit type
2) Storage unit type linked to storage bin type
During putaway movement, system also considers the capacity check defined and the cross
line putaway strategy.
Automatic Bin Search
In WM, you define strategies the system uses to "automatically" search for storage bins for
stock placements and removals.When SU management is active, WM automatically finds
storage bins in basically the same manner as in the standard system without SU
management. This includes the methods used to store homogeneous storage units.
However, one question must be discussed regarding mixed pallets: "How does WM search
for storage bins with mixed storage units?"

Storing Mixed Pallets

Since mixed storage units contain more than one material item, the system must select one
of these materials to use as a basis for the storage bin search process. The selection of this
material item is purely arbitrary.
The characteristics defined for the selected material are then used to carry out the
automatic storage bin search function. All other material items contained in the storage unit
must follow and are transferred to the storage bin selected for the material item that was
chosen for the search process.
System Checks
Independent of the material selected by the system for the automatic storage bin search
function, the normal system checks are carried out for all materials in the storage unit (such
as hazardous materials checking or mixed storage) to insure that no errors occur for stock
placements.

The system determines the Storage Unity Type from the palletization data and uses
the storage unit type search sequence in OMM1 to find the bin automatically.
Palletization data in WM2 view : SUT field....the info maintained here allows SAP
generate the necessary palletization for putaways.
A storage type starting with a 9 is usually an interim storage type. you usually do not
pick from these storage types for goods issues. These storage types are technically
needed to exchange information with MM. you then have TRs, TOs or PCNs to clear
these 9er storage types.
In the storage type search in customizing you define which storage types are
included in the search and in what sequence. If you do not have stock in those
storage types as defined in the search sequence, then SAP cannot find the source
storage bin.
