Magnetic Imaging

TECHNOLOGY FOR THE FUTURE

Unique magnetic imaging...
the newest approach to
high speed non-impact
printing.

Thanks to a recently develo ped magnetic imaging technique ,

this prototype TermiNet"' 8000 page printer demo nstrates the
low printing cost potential (estimated o ne cent per page) in
the 250 tho usand to o ne million page per month range.

Developed to replace
impact line printers for time
sensitive high speed printing, mag
netic imaging systems are quieter than
impact printing systems- less complex
and less expensive than electrostatic o r laser systems.
T he TermiNet 8000 uses standard computer paper and dry
to ner cartridges. Produces good copy at high humidity.
And offers excellent printing speed with o perational
ease. Much smaller than comparable printers, it requires no special environment for full o peration
and features instantaneous restart.

The simple operation promises

lower service costs.
Fixed wri te heads produce a magnetic image on
a rotating mylar write belt. This magnetic image
is then dry inked by means o f a magnetic brushing
technique. T he dry ink to ner image is transferred
directly to plain paper, thermally fused for perma rtence, and that's it. The write belt will be erased and
the printing cycle continues. Most mechan ical
wear points are eliminated.
Monthly service costs are expected to be lower,
because simple maintenance and reliability are
built-in advantages of this unique system.
