3. Preamble + Inner packet Gap (bits)
Preamble fixed by the IXIA to 64 Bits (8 Bytes)
Inner Packet Gapthe minimum available by the IXIA is 960 nsec (960E-9 sec),
equivalent to 96 Bits at rate of 100Mbits/sec:
1 Bit = 1 / 100Mbits/sec = 10 nsec
960 nsec / 10 nsec/Bit = 96 Bits.

IDU and power off the IDU.
(i) Verify that after the SDH Analyzer is restarted (after each switch), the
SDH Analyzer does not report any errors or alarms.
(j) Force Manual switch using the Link Manager management.
(k) Verify that after the SDH Analyzer is restarted (after each switch), the
SDH Analyzer does not report any errors or alarms.

(l) Set the Radio Excessive Errors Threshold to 10E-5 using the Link
Manager and enable BER switching.
(m)
Reduce the RSL of the Master ODU until radio BER reaches
10E-5 and verify that the link switched to the Standby unit.
(n) Verify that after the SDH Analyzer is restarted (after each switch), the
SDH Analyzer does not report any errors or alarms.
(o) Enable External Switch on the link. Insert external input alarm and verify
that the link switches.
(p) Verify that after the SDH Analyzer is restarted (after each switch), the
SDH Analyzer does not report any errors or alarms.

Test Purpose
To test and verify the management of 1+1 link via the In-Band Management
and the receipt of SNMP Traps on the Network Management Station.
Required test-equipment
(a) SDH Analyzer (for BER measurement)
(b) SNMPc Network Node Manager
Test Procedure
(a) Set up a links using the Test-Set. Set the RSL to ~-40dBm.
(b) Verify that the link is in 1+1 mode: on each side, one of the ODUs is
muted.

(c) Connect SDH analyzer to the optical splitters on one end of the link.
Loop the electrical splitters on the other end of the links.
(d) Configure the SNMPc to monitor all four IDUs.
(e) Ping the IP Address of each IDU and verify you get a reply from the
IDU.
(f) Launch Link Manager management session for each IDU and verify you
can manage each IDU.
(g) Generate a SNMP Trap on each one of the IDUs (disconnect the Line
input) and verify that the trap is received and reported by the SNMPc
NMS.
(h) Force a switch to one of the Master IDUs using the Link Manager and
verify the trap is received and reported by the SNMPc NMS.
(i) Power off one of the Master IDUs and verify that you can still manage
the three remaining IDUs.
