1.0 Purpose
The following document is Ceragon networks Validation and Acceptance Test
Plan for the evaluation tests of Ceragon Networks FibeAir1500/1528 SDH
Microwave link and its versatile network solutions.
This document describes the proposed test procedures for the
FibeAir1500/1528 product in 1+0 and 1+1 configurations with the different
interfaces configurations.
The document will include descriptions of the set-ups and procedures required
to verify the products functionality according to its specs and to verify
interoperability with other transmission equipment.

2.0 General Test Summary

Tests described in this section will be divided to 2 categories:
1. FibeAir1500/1528 1+0 Tests
RF tests, SDH tests, Network management tests, Fast Ethernet tests
and E3 tests
2. FibeAir1500/1528 1+1 Tests

3.0 FibeAir Overview

Providing high-capacity connectivity from 45 to 622 Mbps, Ceragon's FibeAir
product family offers service providers the capacity and reliability of fiber
without the high cost and time required to lay lines. Ceragon's FibeAir systems
operate across multiple frequencies from 7.5 to 38 GHz while supporting IP,
SONET/SDH and ATM network protocols and complying with North American
and international standards.
The IDU provides interfaces for 155 Mb/s SONET/SDH/ATM main channel,
2Mb/s Wayside channel, 64Kb/s User channel and 64 Kb/s Order Wire
channel.
The 155 Mb/s channel can be replaced by 2 x 100 BaseT (Fast Ethernet), 3 x
E3/DS3 or a combination of 1 x 100 BaseT and 1 x E3/DS3 interfaces.
The IDU multiplexes the different interfaces signals into 155 Mb/s SDH signal,
transmitted over the air.
The IDU modulates the 155 Mb/s payload, converts it to 350 MHz IF signal and
transmits it to the ODU. In the opposite direction, IDU receives 140 MHz IF
signal from the ODU, demodulates it and transmits it to the line output.

STM-1 BER Test

Test Purpose
To test and verify proper and error-free operation of the 155 Mbps channel of a
1+1 link in all four operation options.
Required test-equipment
(a) SDH Analyzer (for BER measurement)
Test Procedure
(a) Set up a links using the Test-Set. Set the RSL to ~-40dBm.
(b) Verify that the link is in 1+1 mode: on each side, one of the ODUs is
muted.
(c) Connect SDH analyzer to the optical splitters on one end o the link.
Loop the electrical splitters on the other end of the links.
(d) Set the SDH Analyzer to transmission of STM-1, VC-4 bulk with 2^23
PRBS sequence (transmitter coupled to receiver).
(e) Verify that there are no alarms on the SDH Analyzer and on the Link
Manager management.
(f) Clear all alarm log files on the Link Manager management.
(g) Run BER test on the SDH Analyzer. Verify that there are no alarms and
no errors of any kind.
(h) Force switch on each IDU (by disconnecting the Line input of the Master
IDU) on each end of the link.
(i) Verify that after the SDH Analyzer is restarted (after each switch), the
SDH Analyzer does not report any errors or alarms.
(j) Activate ATPC and change the attenuation of the link. Verify that the

Test Purpose
To test and verify proper functionality of the protection triggers of the 1+1 link:
Automatic switch, Manual switch, BER switch, External Input switch.

(f) Clear all alarm log files on the Link Manager management.
(g) Run BER test on the SDH Analyzer. Verify that there are no alarms and
no errors of any kind.
(h) Force Automatic Switch on the Master IDU: disconnect the Line input,
disconnect the radio link, disconnect the IDU-ODU coax cable, reset the
IDU and power off the IDU.
(i) Verify that after the SDH Analyzer is restarted (after each switch), the
SDH Analyzer does not report any errors or alarms.
(j) Force Manual switch using the Link Manager management.
(k) Verify that after the SDH Analyzer is restarted (after each switch), the
SDH Analyzer does not report any errors or alarms.

(l) Set the Radio Excessive Errors Threshold to 10E-5 using the Link
Manager and enable BER switching.
(m)
Reduce the RSL of the Master ODU until radio BER reaches
10E-5 and verify that the link switched to the Standby unit.
(n) Verify that after the SDH Analyzer is restarted (after each switch), the
SDH Analyzer does not report any errors or alarms.
(o) Enable External Switch on the link. Insert external input alarm and verify
that the link switches.
(p) Verify that after the SDH Analyzer is restarted (after each switch), the
SDH Analyzer does not report any errors or alarms.

1+1 Management Tests

Test Purpose
To test and verify the management of 1+1 link via the In-Band Management
and the receipt of SNMP Traps on the Network Management Station.
Required test-equipment
(a) SDH Analyzer (for BER measurement)
(b) SNMPc Network Node Manager
Test Procedure
(a) Set up a links using the Test-Set. Set the RSL to ~-40dBm.
(b) Verify that the link is in 1+1 mode: on each side, one of the ODUs is
muted.

(c) Connect SDH analyzer to the optical splitters on one end of the link.
Loop the electrical splitters on the other end of the links.
(d) Configure the SNMPc to monitor all four IDUs.
(e) Ping the IP Address of each IDU and verify you get a reply from the
IDU.
(f) Launch Link Manager management session for each IDU and verify you
can manage each IDU.
(g) Generate a SNMP Trap on each one of the IDUs (disconnect the Line
input) and verify that the trap is received and reported by the SNMPc
NMS.
(h) Force a switch to one of the Master IDUs using the Link Manager and
verify the trap is received and reported by the SNMPc NMS.
(i) Power off one of the Master IDUs and verify that you can still manage
the three remaining IDUs.
