Risk

(2) Who might be harmed and how?

(3) What controls exist to reduce

risk

(4) What action can be taken to

The equipment could get broken from

being dropped 1/3

Due to town centre being so busy

there is the chance that someone
could walk into us as cause us to fall
over injuring us or breaking the
equipment 2/2
Fall down some of the stairs with
town centre 3/2

Either the cast or the crew and

possibly the person who we walked
into. Also the equipment could be
broken.

You would make sure that the

equipment would be with you all
the time so that there is less
chance that is will be dropped.
Stick to the sides of the shops as
there are usually less busy
compared to the middle so there is
less chance of a spillage being
there.
Stick to the quieter parts of town
where there will likely be less
people.

Keep the equipment in the cases

that are there to keep it protected
from damage.

Could slip over from a spillage on the

floor 2/2

No one would be harmed but the

equipment would be broken and
unusable depending on how bad the
drop was.
Either the cast or the crew and this
can cause a minor injury or a
serious one depending on how they
fall over.

Either the cast or crew it depends

who fall and this could cause injury
to someone else if we fell on them.

Use a hand rail to go up and down

the stairs if there is one available
as this would minimise the chance
of falling over.

Avoid using the stairs if it is

possible.

further reduce risk?

Look out for the yellow spillage

signs and avoid them if possible.

Take the pictures at a different

time of the day when it wont be as
busy.

1. List hazards something with the potential to cause harm here:

Seek to quantify the level of risk the likelihood of harm arising based on the number of persons affected, how often they are exposed to the hazard and the
severity of any consequence.
2. List groups of people who are especially at risk from the significant hazards which you have identified
3. List existing controls here or note where the information may be found
4. List the risks which are not adequately controlled and the action you will take. Have regard for the level of risk, the cost of any action and the benefit you expect to
gain.

RISK RATING
a SEVERITY

b LIKELIHOOD

c FINAL SCORE RATING: what needs to be done

Dying or being permanently disabled

Will almost certainly happen

Serious injury/long term illness

Highly likely to happen

Temporary disability/3 days off sick

Not so likely

Will need medical attention

Even less likely

Minor injury eg. Bruise, graze

Unlikely to happen at all

16-25 Stop! Do not start activity again until risk is

controlled
10-15 High risk level, High priority. Take action
straight away to control the risk
6-9
Medium risk level. Tighten up controls and
make a plan to do something about risk
3-5
Fairly low risk level. Low priority but keep
possible action in mind
1-2
Low or trivial risk. No further action
required.

SO: a x b = c
