What is VIGILANCE PROJECT?

An idea born out of observation that grew into a personal

frustration. During his Internship year at FIDA Kenya in 2013,
Kelvin together with a few like minded Conscience peers
saw an opportunity to make great change and impact.
Our minds were gutted by what we had learnt about the
Law, Gender Based Violence, Social Work and Human
Rights work as a service and calling. There and then we
knew our Mission and Vision. We wanted to do more and
add to the Knowledge we had gained but with
new methodology and approaches.
VIGILANCE PROJECT was thus Born. The initiative would
highlight on Anti Corruption, HRJ (Human Rights Justice) vide
MONITORING, REPORTING and active ADVOCACY
purposed to protect and voice concern on oppression and
targeting of the weak minorities in harsh environments and
communities i.e. (Women and Young Girls, LGBT, Albinism
Community, Physically Disabled, Impaired and Ably
Different Individuals, the Blind, the Deaf, the Mute and the
Mentally Challenged Individuals) ensure Non abuse of rights
and dignity.
Based in Nairobi Kenya, we assume a NON PROFIT WORK
MODEL, NON POLITICAL ORGANIZATION that methodically,
relentlessly and systematically advocates for Human Rights
Justice, Fair Treatment of Minorities and vulnerable groups.
Founded in 2014 in Letter, spirit and principle, the

OUR WORK PHILOSOPHY.

a. If we must go into a project alone then we will but we rst extend and reach out for partnerships.
Partnerships are stronger than lone wolf missions. We believe in working collegiate because we cant
win the cause we champion alone. No one agency or organization is an island.
b. Honesty, Openness and integrity from start to endof any project with an partner or Funder.
c. Clear Project objectives and outcomes/outpus at all times and never pursuing personal agendas.
d. We strive to educate the public and communicate ideas.
e. As an organization we appreciate and value IDEAS because this is the bedrock, the most basic of
initiative/action.
f. Our ideas are dispensed freely, our input assured wholesome, we neither claim the spot light nor hog
attention. We seek unanimity most times.
g. We never talk about people but issues!
h. We dont claim to know everything but we sure do know a little of something and we submit to learning
from your immense vault of knowledge and wisdom!

PROGRAMATIC APPROACH BRIEF

WORKING HYPOTHESIS/ASSUMPTION (S): Human Rights such as right to life, freedom

of speech and religion plus freedom of movement are inalienable rights. Meaning they cannot be
taken away or given to another by the possessor.
Thus they must be protected and assured for marginalized oppressed minorities.
Harsh Communities of existence and hostile violent environments will not assure protection of the
vulnerable minorities and the marginalized.
Therefore we take upon this task willfully. Someone must ensure social accountability and equity by
governments and free and fair representation not forgetting equal opportunities for all without prejudice
and any will will or intention devoid of violence.
REALITY: Since no one wants to ensure protection and accept responsibility for the security of the
marginalized and oppressed minorities, someone must keep vigil.
Someone must be the voice of reason when all seems to be brushed under the carpet.
We will therefore endeavor to protect and promote Human rights issues and freedom through our work.

VISION STATEMENT
To become dependable, consistent
and reputable organization in the
work of Human Rights Promotion and
protection of vulnerable groups for a
just, free and equitable society
devoid of ill intentions and violence
against oppressed and marginalized
minorities (groups).

MISSION STATEMENT

we will loudly beat the drums of Human Dignity,
Freedom, Social economic Empowerment and
Democratic Rights within the Kenyan context
and beyond for the forgotten, marginalized and
oppressed minorities through the application of
wide range of expertise including social
skills and international best
practices.

of human rights, 1948.

4) To develop, strengthen and promote vibrant spaces for open and inclusive participation of all people
regardless of gender considerations, ethnic, religious or sexual orientations.

Why we are passionate about Public Anticorruption Advocacy

At a certain point in time, reality catches up with any country that repeated run away corruption and pilferage of national resources
ultimately runs down the economic and development progress agenda no matter how ambitious or marvel their plans are. It is even
sad when no single arm of Government can be depended upon to rid the ROT & FILTH that corruption casues and its stain and
stench on the nations image to external development partners, donors and International Investors.
Kenya just like any third world nation is a constant borrower from the IMF, WORLD BANK et al. We borrow only to loot and
plunder then Borrow again. Hence unsustaibable economic spending leading to Non Existent White Elephant Projects that
rob the Nation of valuable resource that can be used in Health, Education or eve badly needed Development Expenditure.
As a nation we are doing badly on the corruption index globally and grapppling with CORRUPTION at every Level of Public
service both at National and County Governments, there is a strong need to keep an eye on Government, its arms and all
other state organs so as to mitigate greed and wanton waste of tax payers money.
We must therefore all speak UP bravely and strongly against the vice of corruption in any sector of the nation/republic of kenya .
We intend to share in the space allowed for civil society and nonprofit human rights and socio economic work in combating
corruption in both theory and practice.
There exists a Legal instrument namely The United Nations convention against Corruption Charter which Kenya is a member
and ratified with intent to implement and enforce (government good will). See https://unodc.org for more.
We intend to be the premier organization involved in anti corruption treaty monitoring and anti corruption review mechanism in
Kenya and East Africa heavily borrowing the working models of the Organisation for Security Cooperation in Europe (OSCE);
IGAD CEWARN, Africa Union, PAWA 254, TISA Kenya, AFRICOG, Ni Sisi, SID KDP Kenya, and NEPAD for Programmatic
Inspiration {See Google for the organizations mentioned}
