risk

(4) What action can be taken to

further reduce risk?

Being robbed

51

Every one of the crew who is

doing the photo-shoot as
well as the model, being
robbed may occur if a
robber, thief or criminal of
some kind sees our
equipment and is tempted to
steal it and sell it on.

To reduce this risk the

photo-shoot crew should
keep all equipment out of
view and safely secured.

To further reduce the risk

the crew can take
measures to be wary of
who passes by and could
also keep the polices
phone number close to
hand just in case.

Being assaulted

51

Every one of the crew who is

doing the photo-shoot as
well as the model, being
assaulted may occur if a
criminal sees his or her
opportunity to commit a
crime.

To reduce the risk of being

assaulted the photo-shoot
crew and model should be
wary of who is about to
approach.

To further reduce the risk

of being assaulted the
photo-shoot crew and
model should keep the
polices phone number in
their easy access.

Electrical equipment blowing

up

32

The camera man, this may

occur through the electrical
equipment being miss-used,
used too much or water
getting somewhere within
the camera where it
shouldnt.

To reduce the risks of this

happening the camera man
should take breaks using
the camera.

To further reduce the risk

of this happening the
cameraman should make
sure that the camera is
safe from all liquids.

Being ran over

52

Any one of the crew doing

the photo-shoot, the nearby
road is a high risk as any car
can go past the speed limit
and if one or more the photoshoot crew is crossing the
road then this could be a
severe risk.

To reduce the risk of this

happening the photo-shoot
crew should be extremely
careful when crossing the
road.

To further reduce the risk

of this happening the
photo-shoot crew should
mainly stick to pathways
even if it means taking the
long way.

1. List hazards something with the potential to cause harm here:

Seek to quantify the level of risk the likelihood of harm arising based on the number of persons affected, how often they are exposed to the hazard and the
severity of any consequence.
2. List groups of people who are especially at risk from the significant hazards which you have identified.
3. List existing controls here or note where the information may be found.
4. List the risks which are not adequately controlled and the action you will take. Have regard for the level of risk, the cost of any action and the benefit you expect to
gain.

RISK RATING
a SEVERITY

b LIKELIHOOD

c FINAL SCORE RATING: what needs to be done

Dying or being permanently disabled

Will almost certainly happen

Serious injury/long term illness

Highly likely to happen

Temporary disability/3 days off sick

Not so likely

Will need medical attention

Even less likely

Minor injury e.g. Bruise, graze

Unlikely to happen at all

16-25 Stop! Do not start activity again until risk is

controlled
10-15 High risk level, High priority. Take action
straight away to control the risk
6-9 Medium risk level. Tighten up controls and
make a plan to do something about risk
3-5 Fairly low risk level. Low priority but keep
possible action in mind
1-2 Low or trivial risk. No further action required.
