HOW STUDY HOURS AFFECT A

STUDENTS SCORE
Introduction
Psychologists have found that the best time
interval between two study sessions is 10% of the
time between the final test and the second study
session. So, to remember something for a year,
you should review it about a month after you study
it for the first time. A research from Egyptian
Dental Journal showed that during weekends only
17% of the male students and 10% of the female
students reported that they dont study during
weekend.
Also, females seem to spend more time reading
textbooks more than their fellow males. Most
students pull out the all-nighters style, they cram
studying till midnight. While some excellent
students, study the lesson immediately after the
discussion. Cramming minutes before the actual
exam results into poor performance in exams.
Slacking on social media while studying doesnt
make studying more engaging thus it makes it
more distracting. There are many distractions that
consumes the students time. A good time

management will help you survive in your

academic career. Here we will find out if a
students time allocation in studying has an impact
on their scores.

Objective
This research paper aims to determine the
relativity of the study hours of students with the
results of their quiz scores.

Methodology
The mean is found by determining the sum of the
data and dividing this sum by the total number of
elements in the set. Applying it in our variable, we
get the sum of the total quiz scores which is 1313
and divide it into the total number of element (15).
The median is found by arranging the data in
sequential order and finding the middle datum.
Applying it in our variable, we ranked the data from
80-90, then we found the depth of the median

which is 8 to find out that the middle datum was

90.
The mode is the value of x that occurs frequently,
applying in this variable, the mode are 89 and 90.
Presentation and Interpretation of Data
Gender
45% of students are male and 55% of them are
female.
Age
In the age of 17-19 there are 3 males and 3
females. While in the age of 20-22 there are 4
males and 5 females.
Study Hours
The longest hours of study is 10 while the shortest
is 4.
Quiz Score
In male, two students got 90, the other two had 89,
only one got 87, the other one 85, and the last one
got 80.
In female, two students got 90, the other two had
89, only one got 88, the other one 87 and the last
two got 85.

Effect of Study Hours on Quiz Scores

In male, the shorter the number of study hours

they have, the higher the score they get.
Unlike the female students, the longer the number
of study hours they have, the higher the score they
get.

Conclusion
The coefficient of linear correlation between the
number of study and the score is 0.35 it is indeed a
positive correlation. Therefore it is safe to say that
the study hours of a student have a significant
effect in their quiz scores.
