ACKNOWLEDGEMENT

This report pertains to take project which was under taken on MAGNETIC BRAKING

SYSTEM in partial fulfilment of the requirement for the BACHELOR IN Mechanical

engineering from Poornima College of Engineering, Jaipur. The main purpose of the
training was to acquaint myself with written as well as communication skills. I learnt a lot
from the this experience of the engineering & other personals under whom I was placed for
training. This helped me to develop the habit of analysis critically various aspects of problem
at the time of decision making.
This is an opportunity to express my heartfelt words for the people who were part of this
training in numerous ways, people who gave me unending support right from beginning of
the training.
I would like to acknowledge to Mr. DHANANJAY KUMAR (Assistant professor) during
training period who give me clear details & guidelines for the workshop.
Finally; I would like to express my thanks to all of the technical & nontechnical persons for
the co-operation & valuable guidance during seminar.
I want to give sincere thanks to the Campus Director, Dr. Om Prakash Sharma , Mr. Ashok
Sharma Head of the Department, Seminar Coordinator Mr. Yogesh Mishra and guide Mr.
Amit mandol, for his valuable support.

PREFACE

Project in Poornima organization infuses among students a sense of critical analysis of

the real engineering problems to which they are exposed. This gives them an opportunity
to apply their written and communication and technical skills in a real life situations and
to evaluate the results there of.
I am lucky that I got an opportunity to present a report on Magnetic Braking System. I
prepared my report and the study done is divided into various chapters to get full
knowledge. The training has helped me boosting up my confidence and determination;
which will help me to face real life situations in years to come.
This project report is a comprehensive work, with lucid and systematic presentation of
subject matter. Each concept is explained with number of illustration and diagrams for
easy understanding.
Report also provides information about history, construction and working of cryogenic
engine.I trust and believe that the blinding of my academic and practical experience has
made the report useful.

ABSTRACT
[6]

An Magnetic Braking system uses Magnetic force to engage the brake,

but the power required for braking is transmitted manually. The disc is
connected to a shaft and the electromagnet is mounted on the frame
.When electricity is applied to the coil a magnetic field is developed
across the armature because of the current flowing across the coil and
causes armature to get attracted towards the coil. As a result it develops
a torque and eventually the vehicle comes to rest. In this project the
advantage of using the electromagnetic braking system in automobile is
studied. These brakes can be incorporated in heavy vehicles as an
auxiliary brake. The electromagnetic brakes can be used in commercial
vehicles by controlling the current supplied to produce the magnetic
flux. Making some improvements in the brakes it can be used in
automobiles in future
