Objective:
To familiarize learners with the mechanics of writing.

To enable learners to write in English precisely and effectively

Outcome:

Learners should be able to

i) Get into the habit of writing regularly,
ii) Express themselves in different genres of writing from creative to critical to factual
Writing,
iii) Take part in print and online media communication,
iv) Read quite widely to acquire a style of writing, and Identify their areas of strengths and
weaknesses in writing

Alternative Quizzes will not be conducted, for those who miss the original Quiz. Attendance marks

calculation slab:
75% - 80% - 1 mark
80% - 85% - 2 marks
85% - 90% - 3 marks
90% - 95% - 4 marks

95% - 100% - 5 marks

Assignments shall be submitted before the end of Mid Sem I, Mid Sem II,
and End Sem respectively. Assignment topics are based on AU previous
year Examinations

Assignment I
1. Explain the different types of Communication patterns exist in
organisations with illustrations.
2. Prepare the greeting card for your friend on the occasion of the new year
3. Write a letter of Invitation to a friend requesting him/her to attend a
family function
4. Discuss the need for gender sensitivity in communication today
5. Write a review of a film you watched recently.
Assignment II
1. Explain the techniques of presentation skills in detail
2. Write detailed notes on paralinguistic features and fluency development
strategies.
3. List down the contents of Agenda and Minutes.
4. Write a letter of application for the post of General Manager to the VicePresident (personnel), Babel Insurance company, 728,Kamaraj Road, New
Delhi-110002. Attach a separate Resume.
5. Write an article on a corruption free society for a monthly magazine. Your
article should include the views of a cross section of people.
Assignment III
1. Discuss the types of Project reports.
2. Analyse the problem of employees with negative attitude in the form of a
case study.
3. Differentiate the features of a Project report with an Appraisal report
4. Draft a business proposal for a turnover of Ten lakhs Indian rupees per
annum
5. Write about one of your travel experiences in the form of Travelogue.
Activity I

Students are split into groups and asked to communicate ideas with others and
make group decisions based upon Topic given.
Activity II

Students are asked to prepare questionnaire of their own and the Topic will be given
before a week.
Activity II

Students are asked to prepare a Blog in any of their own Topic/Title.
