Foreword
This Manual for the preparation and transfer of the graphic sources to FIOMO and further processing of the
graphic data in FIOMO is based and in accordance with the international standard ISO 12647.
This Manual based on the above mentioned ISO standard shall secure:
A professional and fully intelligible description of the procedure for the preparation and transfer of
graphic sources to FIOMO
Recommendation
Within the preparation process of new designs, or design changes, we recommend sending a draft of the
graphic designs/data for a pre-print assessment to FIOMO.
Pre-print assessments, consultations and recommendations are provided by FIOMO free of charge within
the framework of our customer services.
Incorporation of FIOMOs recommendations into designs/data improves the quality and stability of the
subsequent print.

SPOT COLOURS
Spot colours and their names in the transferred graphic sources must correspond to colours in
accordance with the valid Pantone Plus Series 2014 coated or Pantone Plus Series 2014 uncoated
guides.
The spot colours are only simulated on the digital proofs with a smaller or larger deviations (depending
on the colour composition of every specific spot colour).
This is valid not only for the 100% spot colour areas but also for areas in which the spot colours are
in raster with other colours the deviations in such cases are even more significant. Due to the above
mentioned the digital proof cannot be used as the final binding colour base for the print for the areas
in which spot colours are used. The 100% spot colour areas are determined for the print with the use
of one of the above mentioned PANTONE guides. In the case of areas in which the spot colours are
in raster with other colours it is necessary that the customers or their representativen is present and
approves the printed design directly at the print.
Note: All images (links) and fonts used in the design must be transferred together with the data. PSD files must
be stored with maximum compatibility in individual (unmerged) layers. Links in the JPEG format must be stored
with lossless compression, or without compression.
PRE-PRINT ASSESSMENT
Before the transfer of the final graphic data, we highly recommend to send to FIOMO a PDF/X-4:2008
(CMYK) file of the design/s for a pre-print assessment. The output of FIOMOs pre-print data
assessment are technological recommendations. The incorporation of these recommendations results
in a better printing output (an increased printing quality, stability, a minimization of misregistration
issues etc.).
Note: The entire pre-print preparation and print process in FIOMO is based and in accordance with the
international ISO 12647-2:2004 standard.
