Awareness about animals right and usage of leather products among residents of

Bangalore

2.1 Statement of the problem

Fashion technology has brought a stunning changes in the business environment.
fashion technology has increased the usage of the leather products among the people
which is a main reason for the drastic growth of leather industry which brought in a
lot of employment opportunity in the country and benefited the economy as a whole,
innovation happens in this industry in regular interval of time as we know the usage
of leather product has increased and became a fashion statement at the same time it is
important to have an ethical concern towards animals and also important to be aware
of animal rights
The usage of leather product is not being accepted by everyone, but the demand for
the leather products has been drastically increased.
The consumer should make necessary attempts to build an ethical attitude towards
animals and create awareness towards animal rights.

2.2 Need and Relevance

Leather industry is booming each day with a constant increase in the number of
people using the leather products for their daily use (belts, jackets, wallets, foot wear,
and bags) etc. this increased interest in culture of fashion design has subsequently
raised, the concern over the animal rights that is required to be followed by the people
who are using the leather products in order to protect the animal against cruelty and
harassment. It is important to create a awareness among the people.
Following the animal rights is a must for having a healthy environment in the society
in addition to this the people should be aware of the animal rights.
It set in place a mutual beneficial arrangement between animal and people. It goes
like this if we take care of the animals, the animals will take care of us this makes
animal welfare an even more important subject.

2.3 Objectives
To know peoples perception about the leather goods.
To know that weather the people are aware about the animal rights
To analyse the demand for the leather products in the market

2.4 Scope of the study:

The scope of the study is identified after and during the study is conducted. The
project is based on tools like questionnaire, fish bone analysis and pie chart and bar
diagram. Further the study is based on the information of previous data.
The analysis is made by taking into consideration of the respondents derived from the
questionnaires.

2.5 Research methodology

Research Design:
A Research Design is the framework or plan for a study which is used as a guide in
collecting and analysing the data collected. It is the blue print that is followed in
completing the study. The basic objective of research cannot be attained without a
proper research design. It specifies the methods and procedures for acquiring the
information needed to conduct the research effectively. It is the overall operational
pattern of the project that stipulates what information needs to be collected, from
which sources and by what methods.
The project is based on descriptive type of research in this the aspects are made to
evaluate the awareness about the animal rights and usage of leather products among
the residents of Bangalore. Clearly established objectives provide details about all
aspects gathered and also help to form basis for developing a fish bone analysis.

Sample Design:
A Sample design is a definite plan for obtaining a sample from a given population. It
refers to the technique or the procedure that the researcher would adopt in selecting
items for the sample. Sample design may as well lay down the number of items to be
including in the sample i.e., the size of the sample

Sample Selection and Size:

The first step of research is sample selection. The total respondents covered were 30.
The questionnaires were same for all the respondents. Results are based on the
response of these 30 respondents.

Sampling Procedure:
The customers were selected by the convenience sampling method. The selection of
units from the universe based on their easy availability and accessibility to the
researcher is known as convenience sampling.
Convenience sampling is best in survey dealing with an exploratory purpose for
generating ideas.

2.6 Sources of Data Collection Method:

Primary Data:
Primary data has been collected by a survey through a structured questionnaire.
Questionnaires were filled by residents of Bangalore.

Secondary Data:
Secondary data is the information that already exist somewhere, which has been
collected for another purpose. In this study, secondary data has been collected from
Internet
Magazines
Journals

2.7 Tools Used for Analysis:

1. Charts:
A chart, also called a graph, is a graphical representation of data. It is represented by
symbols, bar chart, and pie chart.

2. Pie Chart
A pie chart is a graphical representation of the data where all the aspects will be
considered and be represented in a circular diagram with respective shades and
information in it this pie diagram can be used for the graphical representation through
partition and dividing the circle on basis of the information.

3. Bar Graph
A Bar Graph is a type of mathematical diagram using Cartesian coordinates to display
values for two variables for a set of data. The data is displayed as a collection of bar,
each having the value of one variable determining the position on the horizontal axis
and the value of the other variable determining the position on the vertical axis.

Questionnaire method:Questionnaire is a data collection instrument. It is a list of questions to be asked for

the respondents. It also contains a suitable space where the answers can be recorded.
A questionnaire is a method of obtaining specific information about a defined problem
so that the data, after analysis and interpretation, results in a better analysis of the
problem and find a suitable solution for the problem.
In this method, pre-printed list of questions arranged in a sequence which issued by
the researcher for collecting data. The questionnaire is considered as the heart of the
survey, Questionnaire method has been selected to collect primary data from end
users.

Tools for data analysis:Analysis Fishbone:Fishbone diagram is an analysis tool to provide systematic way of understanding
effects and the causes that create those effects. The design of the diagram looks like
the skeleton of a fish hence, it is referred to as the fishbone diagram.
Dr. Kaoru Ishikawa, a Japanese quality control statistician, invented the fishbone
diagram. It referred to as the Ishikawa diagram. Also fishbone is referred to as a
cause-and-effect diagram.
Fishbone diagram is a great value in assisting teams in categorizing the many
potential causes of problems or issues in a systematic way and helps identifying root
causes.
Cause and Effect Analysis was devised by Professor Kaoru Ishikawa, a pioneer of
quality management, in the 1960s. The technique was then published in his 1990
book, "Introduction to Quality Control."
The diagrams that create with are known as Ishikawa Diagrams or Fishbone Diagrams
(because a completed diagram can look like the skeleton of a fish).
Although it was originally developed as a quality control tool, you can use the
technique just as well in other ways. For instance, you can use it to:

Discover the root cause of a problem.

Uncover bottlenecks in your processes.

Identify where and why a process isn't working.

The tool which helps to the study of work life balance is Fishbone analysis.
A fishbone diagram, also called a cause and effect diagram or Ishikawa
diagram, is a visualization tool for categorizing the potential causes of a

problem in order to identify its root causes.

Dr. Kaoru Ishikawa, a Japanese quality control expert, is credited with
inventing the fishbone diagram to help employees avoid solutions that merely
address the symptoms of a much larger problem.

The design of the diagram looks much like a skeleton of a fish. Fishbone
diagrams are typically worked right to left, with each large "bone" of the fish
branching out to include smaller bones containing more detail.

Analyse process dispersion with this simple, visual tool. The resulting diagram
illustrates the main causes and sub causes leading to an effect (symptom).

Uses of Fishbone Diagram:Fish bone identifies the possible causes for a problem.
Fishbone Diagram Procedure
1

Agree on a problem statement (effect). Write it at the center right of the

flipchart or whiteboard. Draw a box around it and draw a horizontal arrow
running to it.

Brainstorm the major categories of causes of the problem. If this is difficult

use generic headings:

Methods

Machines (equipment)

People (manpower)

Materials

Measurement

Environment

Advantages:
The fishbone will help to visually display the many potential causes
for a specific problem or effect. It is particularly useful in a group
setting and for situations in which little quantitative data is available
for analysis.
The fishbone has an ancillary benefit as well. Because people by
nature often like to get right to determining what to do about a
problem, this can help bring out a more thorough exploration of the
issues behind the problem which will lead to a more robust solution.

1
2

Write the categories of causes as branches from the main arrow.

Brainstorm all the possible causes of the problem. Think: Why does this
happen? As each idea is given, write it as a branch from the appropriate
category. Causes can be written in several places if they relate to several

categories.
Think again why does this happen? about each cause. Write subcauses
branching off the causes. Continue to ask Why? and generate deeper levels
of causes. Layers of branches indicate causal relationships.

Limitations of the Study:

1. Detail study of the topic was not possible due to limited size of the project.
Only the problem area was considered.
2. There was a constraint with regard to time allocation for the research study
i.e., for a period of 30 days.
3. The sample size was limited to only 30 customers.
4. Suggestions and conclusions are based on the 30 respondents.
