and Ethics
Course Prerequisite

: with or after Ch E 522

Course Description:

This is a 3-unit course,

which deals with


professional ethics
related to the practices
of chemical engineering
together with the
different laws governing
the same. In the practice
of this profession where
legalities are inevitable,
contracts, obligations
and specifications will be
incorporated to reinforce
and corroborate possible
cases.

Course Objectives:
At the end of the course,

the students must be


able to:
1. Instill thorough

understanding of laws,
contracts, specifications
and ethics.

2. Become aware of and

have the determination


of putting value based
ethics in the professional
practice and the ability
to apply the theories and
principles of laws,
contracts and
specification to the
practice of chemical
engineering.

2. Course Objective:

At the end of the course,


the students should be
able to:
a. Differentiate qualitative
analytical chemistry.
b. Acquire the ability to
write and balance
chemical equations
correctly and quickly.
c. Become familiar with
the expression of
concentration of
solutions and able to
solve analytical
problems involving
these expressions

d. Understand and solve


problems involving
chemical reactions and
equilibrium constants.
e. Become familiar with
the different volumetric
methods of chemical
analysis and be able to
solve problems involve
in such methods.
f. Become proficient in the
calculations involve not
only in volumetric
methods but also in
gravimetric methods of
chemical analysis.

g. Understand the basic


concept of
electrochemical
methods and the laws
applied in the
calculation involved.
