This descriptive study was conducted to determine the knowledge and

extent of implementation on Integrated Management of Childhood Illnesses
among Midwives in Pangasinan. The respondents of the study were midwives of
the top five cities and municipalities with the highest index on child mortality
namely Alaminos City, Bolinao, Lingayen, San Carlos City and Sta. Barbara.
Results revealed that most of the midwives are from San Carlos City
belonging to middle adulthood, married with more than a decade years of service
and are with recent trainings. In general, midwives are knowledgeable on
Integrated Management of Childhood Illness (IMCI). Further, in terms of Extent of
Implementation on Integrated Management of Childhood Illness (IMCI), midwives

highly implements IMCI based on self-evaluation and their Knowledge and

implementation on IMCI has a relation to their demographic profile.
With that, it is recommended to conduct a study including rural health
physicians to further determine the knowledge and extent of implementation of
Health Workers on IMCI and to provide relevant seminars and extension program
is proposed to enhance the midwives knowledge on IMCI.
