Instructions for Candidate
1. There are 9 sheets in this file.
2. Sheet 1 is a checklist to be signed and given with the application form.
3. Sheets 2-9 are Application Form.
4. Sheet 5 contains the details of the research supervisors from the sponsoring organisation and
from IISc. Fill up all the details, obtain the signatures with date and seal.
5. Sheet 6 is the No Objection Certificate Proforma. This has to be signed by the Head of the
Organisation with date and seal.
6. Sheet 7 - A Brief outline of the proposed research program to be given and signed by the
applicant.
7. Sheet 8 and 9 contains the format for resume of the Joint Research Supervisor from the
sponsoring organisation. This has to be filled up and signed by the joint research supervisor.
8. A profile of the organisation has to be enclosed with the application.
9. Photo copies of marksheets of 10th Std, 12th std, UG Degree and / or PG Degree, National
Entrance Test certificates such as GATE / CEED / CSIR/UGC, etc are to be enclosed with the
application.
10.The completed application, in duplicate, with the relevant enclosures should reach IISc on or
before 31 Mar 2016.
11.Institute's copy of challan (if payment made by offline).

ERP norms for Joint Research Supervisor or Coordinator from Organisation:

The Supervisor from the sponsoring Organisation (who must be a permanent staff member) must satisfy the following
requirements of the Institute and be willing to supervise the research work of the candidate.The Joint Research
Supervisor from the organization should be a Ph D holder and atleast 3 years of Post-Doctorate experience.
The Joint Research Supervisor or Coordinator should be from the same establishment/laboratory
in which the candidate is employed.
For admission of candidates to the Ph D Program, the Joint Research Supervisor or Coordinator from the
organisation should have a Ph D qualification.
It may be ensured that the Joint Research Supervisor or Coordinator from the Organisation has enough
service in the Organisation and that he/she will not attain superannuation within 5 years.
Declaration: I have personally known the applicant and his / her work and have discussed the research proposal. I
agree to supervise the research work of the candidate on the program outlined if he / she is enrolled for an Institute
conferment.

Sponsorship from the Head of the Organisation *

We sponsor the candidate "Mr. VEMULA BHANU NAIDU" who is an employee of our
Organisation.
We understand that this sponsorship is covered by the following conditions:
i
The candidate will be continuing in the present place of work till he / she completes the
research work.
ii

Necessary facilities will be provided for the proposed research work of the candidate.

iii

Necessary leave will be given to the candidate to enable him / her to fulfill the residence
requirements at the Institute. The residence requirement consists of :
(a) one term of continuous residence in the first year immediately after admission to
complete the Research Training Programme (RTP) and
(b) 8 weeks of continuous residence every subsequent year for consultation with the
Research Supervisor from the Institute.

The Research Supervisor from the Institute will be given access to the facilities necessary
for the research work of the candidate in our organisation.

The Joint Research Supervisor or Coordinator from the organisation will ensure that half
yearly reports are submitted through the Research Supervisor at the Institute to the Deans.
Failure to comply with this will result in cancellation of registration.

The organisation will ensure that the candidate devotes sufficient time to his/her research
work so that the submission of the thesis will be done within the time frame stipulated by
the Institute.

The organisation will ensure that the candidate will be relieved of his/her duties for
attending the Residential Training Program (RTP) for a period of one term or two terms of
continuous residence at the Institute, which will be taken up immediately after joining.

The organisation will ensure that during the RTP, the candidate will not be engaged with
the duties of the organisation.

In the event of any intellectual property generated by the student during his/her proposed
research, the organisation agrees to the sharing of IP rights as determined by a Committee
constituted by IISc for this purpose.

The thesis is a public document, and shall include all the work carried out by the student
for the Ph D degree. The organization shall agree that sensitive/confidential information
will not be included in the problem formulation or, subsequently, during the course of
research.

All material in the thesis can be submitted for publication in peer-reviewed

journals/conferences, the organization waives the right to deny permission for publication,
for reasons of confidentiality or for any other reason, for any material contained in the
thesis.

Publications: In the case of publications arising from the thesis, only those who have
directly contributed to the research work can be listed as authors. In case of any difference
of opinion, the decision of the Deans of IISc shall be final.
