As one of faculty members in Department of Leisure and Recreation Management at
Da Yeh University since 2000, I engaged myself in community leisure service and
leading students in community volunteer service and leisure studies in Chung-Hwa
area. In addition, I promote international programs such as Y-camp practical training
program in U.S.A. and inviting scholars from U.S., Japan and mainland China to
Taiwan.
I graduated from National Taiwan University with a bachelor’s and a master’s degree
in Agricultural Extension. After three years of work as a teaching assistant in the
same department of Agricultural Extension (now titled the Department of
Bio-industrial Communication and Development ), I pursued my Ph.D. at the Ohio
State University in 1995 and finished the doctorate in Human and Community
Resource Development in 2000.
Being the Secretary of 4-H Club was my first job, and during that time I had to
design the itinerary for reception of delegates to the IFYE from U.S.A., Japan, Korea
Biography and other countries. Further, I developed some audio teaching materials for 4-H
members. The most exciting thing was that I dealt with 40th anniversary of the
founding of 4-H Club of R.O.C. in 1991. A conference was held for more than
1,000 members in Kao-Shung where I managed the ledger and designed the
Exhibition Hall. While working as a research assistant, I joined a long term (10
years) project concerning the environmental effect assessment of Taichung
thermo-power plant. I managed the social investigation which included designing
the questionnaire, data analysis and written reports.
Being a teaching assistant, I have several courses to teach in audio and visual
laboratory and I must prepare materials for professors in our department. Further, I
often deal with administrative affairs.
While serving as academic leader to the Chinese Agricultural Extension Association,
I managed the development of some publications and I had a great honor to take care
of several seminars such as: “Rural Cultural in Taiwan”, and “Agricultural Extension
System in Taiwan”.
During my study in Ohio, I also worked for CCME (Centre for Continuing Medical
Education) in the College of Medicine at the Ohio State University. I worked as an
audio and multimedia program assistant for web design and development.
From my working experience, I found myself in a technologically advanced climate
and noticed the unlimited potential of distance education in the changing world.
Through many years of studying extension education, I was anxious to work in
agricultural education due to knowing a few things about agriculture. Now, I work
in recreation and leisure education academic filed, my research project about Lin,
Yuan is a role reversal of former study of scientific innovation being presented to
farmers in extension education. It is instead a presentation of farmers to society. In
my future study, I would like to devote myself to promoting rural culture.
