Be able to analyze the parking brake system of the truck and trailer
Be familiar with the Foot Control Valve components in pneumatic air brake
Understand the Foot Control Valve operation on the truck and trailer air brake system
system
Be Able to Analyze the hand control valve system
Based on this lab, we were given an opportunity to perform an experiment on the pneumatic air
brake with trainer board. From this lab also, we had gained the basic understanding for the
operation of parking brake of the truck and trailer. Thus, we had become familiar with the
parking brake components in pneumatic air brake after doing the experiment. Besides, we are
able to analyze the parking brake system of the truck and trailer. Moreover, we had become
familiar with foot control valve and hand control valve components in pneumatic air brake.
Therefore, we had gained the understanding of the operation for foot control valve and hand
control valve on the truck and trailer air brake system. Thus, we are able to analyze the foot
control valve and hand control valve system. Last but not least, the objective of this lab are
achieved successfully due to the understanding on pneumatic air brake that we had gained after
conducting this experiment and also can identify the application of this system.
Based on this lab, we were given an opportunity to perform an experiment on the power steering
system. From this lab also, we had become familiar with the main components of the power
steering trainer system. Besides, we had understand the correlation of steering turning position
to the movement of suspension, tie rod, and steering knuckle. Therefore, we had gained the
understanding between the differences of running the power steering with activated hydraulic
system and running the power steering with inactivated hydraulic system. Thus, we were able to
install and uninstall the steering load on power steering trainer system. Moreover, we had
become understand on the correlation of steering load with the hydraulic pressure on steering
system. Last but not least, the objective of this lab are achieved successfully due to the
understanding on power steering system that we had gained after conducting this experiment.
Based on this lab, we were given an opportunity to perform an experiment for the front wheel
alignment with using the trainer. From this lab also, we had gain the basic understanding for the
front wheel alignment and measure the factors with the correct procedure on a vehicle. Besides,
we are able to identify the functions and system on the front wheels. Thus, we had learned on
how to identify the factors that influence the measurement results and identify the wear and
damage that caused by front wheel alignment. Moreover, we can perform the adjustment factors
of front wheel alignment with the correct procedure. Last but not least, the objective of this lab
are achieved successfully eventhough the measurement tools and trainer is not calibrate
correctly that cause slight error to the results.
After finished the experiment above, I had realize that a car is really need a power
steering system which is also known as steering assist system. Power steering systems
will helps driver to steer by increasing steering effort of the steering wheel. So that, the
driver only need to steer with small effort to make a turn. The hydraulic or electric
actuator is function to add controlled energy to the steering mechanism, so the driver can
provide less effort to turn the steered wheels when driving at typical speeds, and reduce
considerably the physical effort necessary to turn the wheels when a vehicle is stopped or
moving slowly. Power steering can also be engineered to provide some artificial feedback
of forces acting on the steered wheels.
