SPACE PLAN
Space Plan defines how much space one
product option will require for display & how
much worth that space is for that particular
merchandise.
FACTORS NEEDED TO BE CONSIDERED

Floor Area: Space in store may be


measured in square feet or square meter.
Floor area is basically defined as
the overall of the store in which the
merchandise is displayed.
Umbrellas require floor area so that
they could be displayed openly & its
design or pattern could be seen.
Fixtures: How much space do they occupy
or the non selling space required to allow
access to the fixtures.
Fixtures are required to display
raincoats mostly because they could not be
opened rather they could be placed on
mannequin or hung.
Facings: It tells that the optimum no. of
options per facing means the attracting
raincoats & umbrellas that grab customer
attention are placed.

RANGE PROFILE
Range Profile is also called the right
merchandising mix. It includes price

assortment, style assortment, customer


appeal.

Price Mix: The pricing mix of the
raincoats & umbrellas has been done such
that it is within the reach of middle class
as well as high class people.
Average selling price is an
assumed figure based on the ASP achieved
in the same trading period. Average price of
an umbrella has been assumed as Rs.80 &
that for raincoat is Rs.200.

Margin Mix: Higher risk (high fashion,
seasonal or previously untried) product
should carry a relatively higher margin to
offset any markdowns required. Safe, core
basic products with a proven track record
of sales success may carry a lower margin.
The baby umbrellas as well as
good quality raincoats are made of very soft
material which is very delicate, hence is
priced relatively high. Whereas the normal
umbrellas & raincoats are set lower margin.

Brand mix: It in involves the branded
products kept in a store. In case of
Umbrella & Raincoat, they are made of
very good quality, are generally kept
under the branded category & accordingly
pricing is done as the comfort, feel &
touch of the fabric or material is
considered.

Range Width & Stock Depth: Range
should be wide enough to offer the
consumer real choice without causing
product duplication & confusion.
We have different varieties in
umbrellas & raincoats. We have Umbrellas
for kids, men & women. Similarly we have
raincoats made of different material as
well as different size to satisfy the need of
a customer.

MONTH-WISE RETAIL BUYING


SEQUENCE
1. February: The order is placed by the
retailer to the manufacturer that how much
umbrellas & raincoats have to be
manufactured, what type of material/fabric
is to be used & in what all sizes it has to be
manufactured. Delivery date has to be
specified.
2. February-March: Sourcing of the
material & other things required to
manufacture the product is done.
As well the manufacturing of the whole
stock is done during that period of time.
3. April-May-June: In the beginning of April,
the retailer receives the whole stock from
manufacturer & start to sell umbrellas as
umbrellas are required in the summer
season as well.

4. July-August-September: As we know
these three month have the rainy season,
the sale of umbrella & raincoat starts.
