Purpose of this assignment


The aim of this assignment is to give learners an understanding of individual and group behaviour in
organisations and to examine current theories and their application in managing behaviour in the Workplace.
Task 1(A.C 1.1,1.2,1.3) Case Study
Understand the relationship between organisational structure and culture:
A newly established business faces the problem of providing a suitable structure and culture for the
organisation. You are required to choose an organisation (preferably one that you are familiar with) for this
task and give guidance to the organisation in different sections, to demonstrate your knowledge,
understanding and application of the concept organisational structure and culture.
A.C 1.1 Compare and contrast different organisational structures and culture.
A.C 1.2 Explain how the relationship between an organisations structure and culture can impact on the
performance of the business
A.C 1.3 Discuss the factors which influence the behavior of an individual at work.

Understand ways of using motivational theories in organisations:
This task is aimed at one of the most important concept of using motivational theories in organisations. You
are required to produce a report by looking at the impact of leadership styles on motivation. Explore the
application of motivational theories and evaluate the usefulness of these theories. Use organisation of your
own choice.
Below is the topic and assessment criteria elements for this assignment;
A.C 3.1 Discuss the impact that different leadership styles may have on motivation in organisations in
periods of change.

A.C 3.2 Compare the application of different motivational theories within the workplace.

The aim of this task is to explore the concepts of developing effective teamwork in organisation. You are
required to illustrate using real practical company cases or examples. Also, you should present detailed
analysis on the application and practicality of these theories surrounding the concept effective team work.

Submission Guidance and Policies for Edexcel Students
This is an individual assignment. All parts of the assignment are required to be presented in a professional
format, MS Word processed with full citation and references following Harvard system. Brit College strongly
advises the learners to follow the guidance below:
Brit College prefers Times New Roman 12 or Arial 11 in the body of the text.
An assignment cover sheet and a receipt must be attached along with each submitted assignment.
All assignments must have clear headings and sub-headings where necessary.
Make sure you state the word count on the title page.
Assignments must be printed in black and white.
Late Submission and Resubmission
Assignments will not be accepted for assessment by lecturers unless an extenuating circumstances
form has been filled in and duly authorized by a member of staff.
Students will receive the feedback form and guidance from the lecturer to improve in the areas of their
weaknesses on their first submission. Please note that assignments can be re-submitted only once. A
resubmitted assignment will be awarded a failed grade should it not meet the required pass grade
marks and results in retaking the module.

the required criteria.
A fine may also apply in case of resubmission.

Extensions and Extra-ordinary Circumstances


Extensions are only granted for documented medical reasons and/or other documented serious
