1. PURPOSE
To ensure that installation of GI Boxes & DB Enclosure fixing are executed safely and in accordance with the contract
requirements and that all quality assurance / control activities required for the same are conducted in a systematic
manner, works are inspected and conformance is verified and documented.

5. SAFETY

Tool box talk has to be conducted all the hazards have to be identified before starting the work.
Personnel Protective Equipments (PPE) to be worn by the Task force during execution at site.
Clear the obstructions from the surrounding area to avoid Near misses and accidents.
Manufacturers recommendation has to be followed on health and safety if applicable.
Any Process adopted and may have a particular safety risk will be assessed and addressed as required.

6. RESPONSIBILITIES
6.1

Project Engineer
To be the focal point for interfaces and other communications with the ENGINEER and Contractors as
required during execution of work.
He shall ensure that adequate quality measures are being undertaken.
He shall ensure that the proper tools and tackles are available for the timely completion of the job in a quality
manner.

6.2

Site Engineer (Electrical)

He shall ensure all inspections are conducted as per the contract specifications and ITPs. To ensure all
inspections, proper tools & tackles and manpower are used at all stages of work. To ensure all current
issues of procedures, Approved Material and shop drawings and standards are available at the point of use.
He should also ensure the works complies with the contract requirements / approved shop drawings. He

shall be responsible for the total quality control for installation work. He shall liaise with ENGINEER for
inspection of installations works.
Inspect for any damage during, handling and storage.
Monitor the quality of work & ensure that fulfillment of specified requirement and that all quality records
related to work are completed.
Ensure the work is completed as per quality requirements. Contractor shall inspect the same work prior to
initiate ITR for ENGINEER approval.
Maintain Comprehensive inspection and test records for any further documentation.
Reviews the Method Statement before starting the work, explains the same to the subordinates and
prepares program for the daily job. Aware of all code of practices, Standards & Specifications and HSE plan
and to appreciate the workforce to perform a time bound and quality job.
He shall originate ITR for completed installation works and companies.
6.3

Site Foreman (Electrical)

Checks the locations and the dimensions of the pipes.
Checks the sizes and the slope of the pipes.
Checks with the approved shop drawings.

7. PROCEDURE
7.1

Equipments:

Standard Hand tools Hack saw, File, Cutter, Drilling machine, Marker, Grinding machine, chisel, water
level, spirit level. etc.
Handling
During transportation, material must not be handled roughly, it should be protected properly with the covers.
Use of improper machinery / handling equipment for lifting must be avoided.

7.3

Transportation:
The transporting vehicle must ideally have a flat bed, free for any rough surfaces or corrugation.

7.4

Storage
Material should be stored in covered store with locking facility.
It should be protected from expose of the sunlight and entry of water.

7.5.1

GI Boxes fixing

7.5.2

Checks with the approved shop drawings.

Check that the material is as per approved submittal.
Obtain the FFL in coordination with the Main Contractor.
Mark on the wall the location of point (distance and height). Height to be checked and confirm with the shop
drawings.
Cut the wall using grinder and chase as per the depth of the box.
Fix the G. I. Box. Ensure the finish level.
Connect the conduits to the G. I. Box.
Cover the conduits to avoid the entry of any foreign material.

DB Enclosure fixing

Checks with the approved shop drawings.

Check that the material is as per approved submittal.
Obtain the FFL in coordination with the Main Contractor.
Mark on wall, distance, height and depth of the DB enclosure. Height to be 180 cm (top) from FFL.
Try with Main Contractor to prepare wall to accommodate DB. Main Contractor can use 110 mm thick blocks
instead of 230 mm. This will avoid cutting.
Cut the wall using grinder and chase as per the depth of the enclosure.
Connect the conduits and ensure that there is minimum 3 Nos. spare conduits on tops and bottom of
enclosure.
Fix the enclosure with proper mixture of the cement and sand, ensure that the height and level of the DB.
Co-ordinate with the Main Contractor about the wall finish and be sure with the Main Contractor about the
wall finish and be sure that cover can fix properly in level with the plastered wall.
Cover the enclosure to avoid the entry of any foreign material.

8. QA/QC PROCEDURE
All inspection / Testing as defined in related Inspection and Test Plan (ITP) shall be conducted. Related check
sheets shall be completed.
