ASCE-T&DI LOUISIANA CHAPTER

(Co-sponsored with University of New Orleans, Civil Engineering Dept.)

Presents

Green Highways and Green Streets:

America's 21st Century Infrastructure
Investing in Green Highways offers the opportunity to enhance the existing infrastructure and protect the
environment while simultaneously generating new green jobs, creating demand for green technologies, and
revitalizing local neighborhoods. The Green Highways Partnership (GHP) is a partnership between the US
Environmental Protection Agency, the Federal Highway Administration, and industry leaders that promotes the
integration and leveraging of resources and capacity to plan and build a sustainable and affordable
transportation network. Training and workshops on topics such as these are being developed through the
Green Highways Partnership Training and Development Center (GHP TDC).

This workshop will introduce participants to the GHP Green Infrastructure Watershed Approach design
concepts and applications and show how engineers are actively using this program to help communities meet
their 21st Century infrastructure, jobs, and community development needs, while providing for improved storm
water management and environmental protection. Participants will gain information on new and valuable
resources and programs. Case studies and information from the experiences of engineers, municipal officials,
and government agencies that have integrated these projects into their planning and construction process will
be used to illustrate the success of these new and innovative efforts.
