Hydrophobic cement deteriorates very little durina prolonged storage under unfavourable conditions.
This cement is obtllined by intergrinding 33 grade ordinary Portland cement clink.er with certain hydrophobic asents wbich Will impa.rt to the cement a water repelling property. The bydrophobic I1ropeniet.

during the mixing of the concrete, and normal hydration takes place. Hydropbobre cement shall not
be confused with waterproofing cements. A test on hydrophobicity i. also included in Ibis standard.
Thi. standard was first issued as an emergency standard in 1976 and subsequently revised in 1978.
Since ppbhcation of the first revision of this standard, amendments nave: been issued from time to time
in order to modify various. requirements based 01\ the requirements of the users and also k.cepinl in

a.mendments include modification in the tolerance requtremente for the mass of cement packed in

fieate indicating the total chloride content in percent by mass of cement, permitting differtnl bags fOt
packing of cement, incorporating de-bib for considering of suppJy of cement as bulk supply, etc. In
view of these large number of amendments, tbe Committee decided to bring out tbe second revision of
this standard incorporating all these amendments so as 10 make it convenient {or the uscn.
