FOREWORD

0.1This Indian Standard was adopted by the Indian Standards Institution

on 30 March 1970, after the draft finalized by the Shipbuilding Sectional
Committee had been approved by the Mechanical Engineering Divisfon
Council.
0.2 Bollards are used on board ships for a variety of purposes like mooring
or towing of vessels and also with the cargo-handling gear.
Cruciform
bollards are used with cargo-handling gear for belaying the topping lifts
and with the boats, when they are launched for paying out the wire rope
runner round the bollard SO as to ensure a better control of boats, while
lowering.
0.3 In the preparation of this standard, assistance has been derived from
