PURPOSE
The purpose of this document is to provide a summary description of the Feedwater
System of the PP10CCGT Project Conversion of Simple Cycle Gas Turbine to Combined
Cycle Power Plant.

This document is common for the forty (40) HRSGs of the ten (10) combined cycles 4x4x1.

The combined cycles and components identification is in accord with KKS Document and
Designation Coding PP10CC-00-YDC-UMO-ABC-001.

Other issues related to the system such us control philosophy, sizing criteria or
commissioning / start-up procedure will be thoroughly discussed in dedicated project
documents. Same for the package units for which the selected Vendors will provide the
final systems description.

SYSTEM DESCRIPTION

2.1. FUNCTION

The P&ID PP10CC-00-LAB-MDD-ABC-001 shows the feed water system.

The function of the feed water system is to supply thermal deaerated feed water from the
integral LP drum-deaerator to the HP-drum of each boiler.

Feed water is taken out from the LP drum by total three different sets of feed water pumps
(3 x 50%) and conveyed to the HP drum through the HP drum level control valve and HP
economizer. A minor amount of HP feedwater flow is deviated, providing spray water for
HP superheated attemperator (all inside the HRSG Vendors scope, except the HP
feedwater pumps).

The pumps will provide sufficient pressure and flow in all operation cases according to
HRSG inlet demand.

2.2. PROCESS DESCRIPTION

2.2.1. LP - Drum and deaerator

Please refer to PP10CC-00-H-MID-NEM-001 HRSG system description provided by HRSG

Vendor (NEM).

2.2.2. HP-Feed water pumps

There are 3 x 50% multistage centrifugal type HP-feed water pumps A111LAC11/21/31AP001, which are capable to feed the HP-system of the HRSG's steaming at
100 % load, while one of them is in stand-by mode. The HP-feed water pump capacity is
designed taking into consideration all possible scenarios from the heat & mass balance
point of view.

The HP-feed water pumps are protected against dry run condition by level transmitters,
which are located in the LP Drum (01HAD20CL001/002), so if the level is too low at LP
Drum the HP feedwater pumps will trip. In addition, two redundant pressure transmitters
are installed at each HP feedwater pump suction (PIT-A111-LAC11/21/31CP002 and PITA111-LAC11/21/31CP003) and if the pressure value is too low, associated pumps will stop.
All these transmitters allow controlling the actual NPSH available of the pumps from control
room and preventing uncertainties in static head and vapor losses due to flashing from
pressure excursions and strainer plug gauges.

Each HP-feed water pump is provided with a Y type suction strainer PIT-A111LAC11/21/31AT001. In case of clogging of a strainer, a warning would be given by a
differential pressure transmitter (PDIT-A111-LAC11/21/31CP001).

Water conditions are monitored by two temperature transmitters (TIT-A111-LAC02CT001

and TIT-A111-LAC02CT002) and a manometer (PI-A111-LAC02CP501) at suction
common header (A111-LAC02BR002-150-3A1-HC).

A manometer (PI-A111-LAC11/21/31CP501) is provided at suction inlet, as well as another

manometer (PI-A111-LAB12/22/32CP501) at discharge outlet. Both of them are included in
the scope of the feedwater pump Vendor.

Two redundant pressure transmitters (PIT-A111-LAB12/22/32CP001 and PIT-A1111

LAB12/22/32CP002) are provided at each HP feedwater pump discharge, which will trip
the pump in case of any not desired overpressure.

As

recommendation,

balancing

line

(A111-

LAC11/21/31BR013-25-3A1-HC) will be installed connecting each pumps discharge with

the suction, in order to protect the pump from high pressure differences. A pressure
transmitter will be installed on this line (PIT-A111-LAC11/21/31CP004) and an orifice plate.

The HP feedwater pumps (A111-LAC11/21/31AP001) have minimum individual flow lines

governed by a combined Automatic Recirculation / Non return valve (ARC) (A111LAB12/22/32AA201). This system is a safety protection for the pump, as independent of

the feed water demand, the pumps shall never run below their minimum flow. The excess
flow is returned back to the LP drum, as the ARC valves will start opening for load cases
under the minimum HP feedwater pump flow.

An orifice plate is installed at each individual recirculation line in order to absorb the
difference of pressure between the HP feedwater pump discharge and the pressure of the
LP drum. This orifice plates will be calculated based on the HP feedwater pump operating
curve.

The HP-feed water pumps discharge into DN100 pipelines (A111-LAB12/22/32BR010-10015A1-HC). In each line, a discharge motorized isolation valve is located (A111LAB12/22/32AA051) and after each pump discharge header a common DN150 discharge
header is installed (A111-LAB40BR010-150-15A1-HC). There is a manometer (PI- A111LAB40CP501) providing local information in this header.

The function of the HP-feedwater pump discharge motorized valves is:

To be able to isolate the feed water pump when the pump is in stand-by mode.
To be able to start up the feedwater pump against a closed valve automatically.
2.3. NORMAL OPERATION

In order to start the feed water system, the operator has to check at least that:
1) There is not a very low level of water inside the LP drum
2) There is not a very high level of water in the HP drum
3) Check that the feedwater pump lube oil system is running
4) Check that the closed cooling water system is available
5) Check that the bus voltage is OK
6) Other starting permissives (please check the control philosophy of the feedwater
system for detailed information).

Once above items are confirmed, operator will check that all discharge isolation motorized
valves are closed (only needed for initial pump start sequence). Operator will start up the

feed water pumps against the closed valve and open them when adequate conditions are
reached.

In case the demand of flow is very low, one of two operating pumps can be stopped,
avoiding minimum recirculations and maximizing the efficiency of the equipment. In the
other hand, if the level in the HP drum is very high, control valve inside HRSG Vendor
scope will close, but pumps have to keep running as feedwater is needed for the control of
the HP steam outlet temperature (HP desuperheater located between HP superheater 1
and HP superheater 2).

2.4. LOAD CHANGES / TRANSIENT CONDITIONS

For the HP feed water system there is no needs for any action in case of a load variation,
unless a failure in the system occurs. The installed control systems cover the entire
operating range including low flows, as minimum flow lines with ARC valves ensure it. The
system is designed to work with two (2) pumps in parallel, but it is also possible to work
with only one pump in low load cases, in order to maximize the efficiency of the pumps.

An electrical / mechanical failure of the operation pump is covered by the automatic startup of the stand-by pump.
