TOURNAMENT RULES AND REGULATIONS

I. ELIGIBILITY
A. The tournament is open to all players who are members in good standing of the National
Chess Federation of the Philippines (NCFP).
B. Each team shall be composed of four (4) regular players and one (1) alternate.
C. Average Elo Rating per team is Elo 2100 calculating the four (4) highest rated members.
D. Based on the October 1, 2015 Rating lists, the players higher rating between their National
Rating and Fide Rapid rating, if none then between National and Fide Standard Rating will
be applied.
E. Those players without Ratings or with Ratings below 1800 will be given a provisional Fischer
Random Elo Rating 1800 for calculation
F. Each Team is allowed to field two (2) Titled players but only one (1) GM or IM per team.
G. Registration Fee per Team is PHP 2000.00 and PHP 200.00 for Individual. Deadline of
registration is December 07, 2015. Payment of Registration Fee for Teams may be
deposited to the following account:

The Individual Registration Fee will be collected at the venue during the event.
H. In case of tie, there will be pooling of prizes from 1st to 10th place. No pooling of prizes from
11th to 50th place. Tiebreak will decide.
I. Team participation will be accepted on a first come, first serve basis depending on the
capacity of the venue to accommodate all participants. Those teams with designated
members that confirmed its participation earlier will be given priority to be officially registered
after payment of Registration Fee thru a bank. To assure your participation, it is important to
register early to NM Roel A. Abelgas by email or text message. For better evidence of the
time and date of your registration, we prefer you register via email or better yet you register
both via email and text message.
J. Tournament Format: Swiss System both for Team and Individual event.

III. TOURNAMENT RULES
A. The tournament shall be governed by the FIDE Laws of Chess promulgated on July 1, 2014.
B. Time control shall be twenty (20) minutes with 5 seconds increment for each player to make
all the moves necessary to finish the game.
C. Penalty for illegal moves:
1. 1st Offense oral warning.
2. 2nd Offense loss of the game.
D. The use of cell phones and other electronic means of communication while the game is in
progress is prohibited. A player who will violate this provision shall lose his/her game by
forfeiture.

E. Pairings shall be generated by the Swiss Manager pairing program. NO PROTEST ON

PAIRING shall be entertained.

IV. TIE BREAKS The following tie-break systems, in descencing order of priorities shall be applied:

3. Buchholz System based on match points
4. S.B. System
B. INDIVIDUAL
1. Direct encounter
2. Buchholz System
3. Median Buchholz System
4. S.B. System
5. More number of won games
