    Case Study: Chemical - Carbon Black Oklahoma, USA

    A plant in Oklahoma that manufactures Chemical Carbon


    Black was unable to find a valve that would work for their
    application.

    The carbon black was stored in large hoppers, and


    discharged by gravity through an isolation valve. The material
    is in powder form, and kept at 250°F. This hot, abrasive
    material would quickly score plug and ball valves, causing
    them to leak. Other styles of knife gates were also tried, but
    all suffered the same problems.

    The plant liked the features of the Flexgate Slurry Knifegate:


    - a full port when open,
    - bi-directional seal,
    - replaceable seats.
    and decided to give it a try.

    The Flexgate is supplied with flush ports, so the plant


    connected the air system from the actuator to flush out the
    seating area on every cycle.

    The valve exceeded their expectations and is now in use


    throughout the plant.
