INTRODUCTION
Interviews are a widely used tool to access peoples experiences and their
inner perceptions, attitudes, and feelings of reality. A structured interview is
an interview that has a set of predefined questions and the questions would
be asked in the same order for all respondents. An interview guide, usually
including both closed-ended and open-ended questions, is prepared;
but in the course of the interview, the interviewer has a certain amount of
duties to adjust the sequence of the questions to be asked and to add
questions based on the context of the participants responses.
OBJECTIVES
English for Social Interaction 2 in Bali was guided by three objectives:
1. To meet the social interaction developed in the real community in Bali;
2. To do the learners activity in the social interaction;
3. To know how does social interaction influence students learning process.
CONDUCTING AN INTERVIEW
1. Before the interview, be sure for students to know and to learn about
history, mission, philosophy, organizational structure, and characteristic of
people scientifically and practically;
2. Study common interview questions, prepare answers, and practice aloud
and with friends;
3. Be comfortable with your responses but do not sound rehearsed;
4. Practice your communication skills;
5. First impressions are important offer a firm handshake;
6. Maintain eye contact;
7. You can practice and enhance your communication skills by:

making presentations
watching television

NOTICE:
Understanding the language and culture of the interviewees are focused to
understand the meaning of human experiences from the interviewees
perspectives. Thus, these interviews are governed by the cultural setting of
each students. These require that each students try to understand the
interviewees language and, further, its meanings in the specific cultural
context of foreigners. Therefore, try to make sense of the interviewees
experiences from his or her point of view. Note-taking is necessary to the
natural flow of the conversation.
