A MESSAGE FOR MASTER MASONS

33rd OHIO MASONIC HOME DAY

Ohio Masonic Home Day - a day for
the whole family to enjoy - will be
held on Sunday, June 12th.
Worship Service will begin at 10 am
in the Auditorium. Food venders will
open at 11 am.
This year's festivities will include a
concert and parade, times to be
announced soon.

Freemasonry
A Way
Of Life
Freemasonry is the oldest,
largest and most widely
recognized fraternal
organization in the World.
Founded in London, England in
1717, its current worldwide
membership totals 3 million
members, 1.2 million of which
are in North America. With
86,733 Masons and 488 local
Lodges, Ohio has one of the
largest Masonic memberships of
any state in the country.

Last month we discussed that particular branch of Masonry known as the York
Rite and its importance to Master Masons in their pursuit of more light and
knowledge in Freemasonry. This month we will direct our attention to that branch
of Masonry known as the Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite. Scottish Rite includes
the degrees from the Fourth to the Thirty-third, inclusive. The structure of the
degrees are divided into four coordinate bodies: the Lodge of perfection-4th
through 14th degrees are commonly called the ineffable (not to be expressed in
words) degrees, which provides scenes and characters that recall and amplify the
three symbolic degrees; The Council, Princes of Jerusalem-14th and 15th degrees
teach lessons using settings based upon the ancient captivity of the Hebrews and
the building of the second Temple; The Chapter of Rose Croix-17th and 18th are the
spiritual heart of Scottish Rite and emphasize a new law that the only lasting
Temple is in the soul and hearts of man; The Consistory includes the 19th through
the 32nd degrees, which portray memorable lessons that range in settings from the
days of chivalry through the 20th century; The 33 degree is conferred by the
Supreme Council, Northern Masonic Jurisdiction of the Unites States of America,
and is by invitation only. Scottish Rite Masonry uses extensive drama and allegory
to emphasize the moral teachings and philosophical messages of its degrees in an
attempt to provide a better understanding of Freemasonry and the basic principles
found in Symbolic Lodge Masonry. As we can see, Masonry is made up of many
branches or organizations, but just like the tree of knowledge each branch is
significant in its own right, that is, improvement of ones self-obtaining all the light
which Masonry has to give-of enjoying, to the fullest, Masonic fellowship and
brotherhood-of being able to know and intelligently discuss all that Ancient Craft
Masonry has bequeathed us-of finishing all the lessons and great body of work
which our Ancient brethren instituted with such great care. In conclusion then, we
should never be content with only half the story. Our lives should be focused on
personal growth and development, which is filled with rich relationships, which
benefit others, which helps to make the world better, and which focuses a mans
attention on his inner growth-through the work of Masonry.

CHAPTER AWARDS
Ranold Seymour was honored at the Sixth Capitular District Awards program on
Sunday 17 April by receiving the Sojourners award for his extensive travel and
participation in the activities of the various chapters throughout the district. New
Carlisle Chapter was also honored by receiving the 2015-2016 Most Outstanding
Chapter award for our District. The Chapter and Council will elect officers for the
2016-17 Capitular and Cryptic year at the May 17th stated meeting, and dues are
due by May 31, 2016. We always encourage attendance of our membership at all
our meetings throughout the year but the annual meeting and election of officers
should be of the utmost importance to our members. Please make an effort to
support your chapter and its officers!
