The course strategic case requires teams to apply the entire strategic management process
to the corporation whose name is written in bold on the list of recommended corporations
(SACasesBankSpring2016.xls on e-Learning). The teams should picture themselves as
analysts & consultants affiliated with PriceWaterhouseCoopers (PwC) in Prague who have
been contracted by the respective corporations to analyse and define their competitive
positioning vis--vis the relevant global trends and their key rivals, study the external and
internal environment and ultimately craft a viable corporate strategy, i.e. to prepare the so
called Comprehensive Written Analysis (CWA) - see A below and its highlights a
PowerPoint presentation - see B below. Both the CWA and the presentation should be
compiled to work out the Strategic Case Document - see C below.

Provide thorough (PESTEL like) analysis of the contemporary global trends


influencing the industry in question (Big Picture)
Identify industry specific Key Success Factors (KSF) and construct a Competitive
Profile Matrix (CPM) comparing the target corporation vis-a-vis its main rivals
Identify firms existing vision and mission
Develop updated (revised) vision and mission for the corporation (if needed)
Construct External Factors Evaluation (EFE) Matrix
Construct Internal Factors Evaluation (IFE) Matrix
(Optional) Review and evaluate the firms governance vis--vis new trends in
corporate governance (see ResourcesTheEconomist.xslx on e-Learning)
Construct SFAS (mandatory), TOWS (optional) Matrices
Use ALL of the following: BCG, IE, Grand Strategy Matrix, QSP Matrix to
craft recommended and viable strategies (strategic mixes) together with
presenting sound arguments (analysis) justifying and supporting your
decision

B. Strategic Case Presentation:


Develop a presentation highlighting the key features of the CWA (max. 6-7 slides/20
mins presentation) including:

C. Strategic Case Document:


The final document (electronic copy ONLY i.e NO hardcopy please!) should include the
complete CWA (as per A) & presentation (as per B). The Strategic Case Document
should be sent together with the presentation by e/m to: vchvalovsky@unyp.cz by the
deadline set.

D. Case review & evaluation
1. Evaluation criteria:
Completeness of solution
Depth of analysis in all parts
Originality/uniqueness
Correctness
Overall style and format of the presentation
Note: Team members will be graded subject to their respective evaluation by the Team Leader (TMEFBS).

2. Score & rules:

Maximum score awarded = 35% (+1% for winning solution)


2% will be deducted from the score for any missing and/or incomplete mandatory
deliverable and/or for every day of late submission after the deadline
