SITUATIONAL ANALYSIS
A. Over-all Description of the Barangay
1. HISTORY OF BARANGAY ACEREDA
Brgy. Acereda, formerly called Visita, meaning a
place for visitors, was very common during the Japanese
occupation. The place became the evacuation center
during the war in 1940s up to peace time.
The establishment dated 1902 with Acereda as its
official name, derived from the family name of Father
Telesforo Acereda, a Spanish friar who officiated the first
mass during the initial fiesta in honor of joint patron saints,
Peter and Paul thru the recommendation of Ramualdo
Tagros whose two son, Pedro and Pablo as the first
hermanos.
The original settlers where migrants from Camarines
Provinces, some island people of Biri and from the
adjoining towns of Bobon like San Jose and Catarman.
Barangay Acereda, is composed of sitios namely:
Tura, Balogo, Inihi-an, Catapuran, Matelarag, Marasbaras,
Inariwogan, Binotangan and Caglibas.
Brgy. Acereda is reachable via the rugged and muddy
feeder road by means of scooters, tricycles, and jeepneys
land transport.it can be reached also thru a river ride by
motor boaters and bancas.
To date, it is the center point of the interior
barangays of Bobon and Catarman in the south by means
of water and land transportation, business and commerce,
education and communication via Dream Cable TV
Telephone
Network
utilizing
electric
power
of
NORSAMELCO.
Coco and rice farming, gravel and sand quarrying are
the existing means of living of the people for the place
have fertile plains and hills.
This barangay is DDU which can be highly
recommended as recipient of their government aids both
coming from local and national level to include also aids
from NGOs to help and facilitate and alleviate the poor
and deportable economic situation of the barangay people.
The 2 hectares barrio site was donated by Cobos and
Tatoy families and the 1 hectare school site was donated
by the late Lucas Rosita.

2. GEOGRAPHICAL SETTING
Barangay Acereda is one of the 18 barangay in the
municipality of Bobon, Northern Samar. It is

There is a complete Elementary grade, from grade 1 to
6 , teachers and school building.

12. HEALTH FACILITIES


Brgy. Health Center is manned by Midwife, BNS and
BHW and CHT members.

13. POWER
NORSAMELCO is the source of the electricity in the
barangay.

some having generator for emergency uses and some
are using kerosene.

14. TRANSPORTATION
Means of transportation by motorcycle/tricycle, PDcab, and truck.

15. COMMUNICATION
Most speaks Waray, other Visaya, Tagalog, English,
and Cebuano. Others are using cellphone and other
gadgets as their means of communication. 80% of the
families are using mobile gadgets.
