Automatic Transfer Switch

ATyS

THE ATyS RANGE

The ATyS family proposes a complete motorised

changeover range including electrical and mechanical
interlocking. Manual operation is always possible on all
the products in case of emergency.
The electric command is realised via a motorised
module, electronically driven by 2 types of logic:
Remote controlled: ATyS 3 products are controlled by
volt free contacts allowing the switch to be driven in 1,
0 or 2 position. These contacts can come from an
external control logic.

ATyS 3s

ATyS 3e

ATyS 6s

Automatic control: AtyS 6 products integrate all

controls, timers and relays required to realise a
Normal / Emergency application.
ATyS 6e and 6m versions also integrate the remote
controlled feature.
The motorised and control modules can easily be
replaced without disconnecting the power cables.

CONTROL LOGIC

2 : terminals 201-202

3e 6s 6e

ATyS 3e and 6e products are electrically driven by external volt free contacts between terminals 314 and 317.
This command can be inhibited:
On ATyS 3e: terminals 313-317 closed
On ATyS 6e: terminals 313-317 opened.

> Impulse logic (standard configuration)

The switching command is a pulsed dry contact lasting
at least 30 ms.
When the order disappears, the product remains in
position
The impulse can be of infinite duration without causing
any disturbance.

Two types of control logic are possible: impulse or

contactor. The choice of the control logic is made via
programming (refer to programming chapter ATyS 3e
and 6e).

This test simulates a loss of priority source situation.

The sequence generates load transfer from priority
souce to emergency source after backup source start
up operation (in case of genset). The return sequence
always keeps manual re transfer feature activated (from
priority source availability). All timers are counted down
according to their programmed settings.
The product automatically returns to Visualisation

The test is only possible in automatic mode, the changeover switch in a priority source position, priority
source being available.

It is also possible to start a test on load remotely closing

terminals 207 & 209.
The cycle is started from contacts closure.
The re-transfer is initiated from contacts opening.

The re-transfer from emergency source to

priority source is blocked and only authorized
after manuel retransfer validation (keypad

You should use a shielded twisted pair (LIYCY type). In

an interfearence environment or large network (in terms
of length) we recommend the use of 2 shielded pairs
(type LIYCY-CY). In this case, one pair is used for the
+ and the , and another pair, where the 2 wires are
short-circuited, for the 0 V.
A repeater (1 channel) or an arrestor (4 channels) should
be used if you intend to exceed the distance (1500 m)

Automatic Transfer Switch ATyS

OPTIONS

Communication module
PROTOCOL JBUS / MODBUS
The JBUS / MODBUS used by the ATyS involves a
dialogue using a master-slave hierarchical structure.
There are two possible dialogues:
the master communicates with a slave (ATyS) and waits
for its reply
the master communicates with all the slaves (ATyS)
without waiting for their reply.
The mode of communication is the RTU (Remote
Terminal Unit) using hexadecimal characters of at least
8 bits.
According to the JBUS / MODBUS protocol, transmission time must be less than 3 silences, i.e. the emission
time of 3 characters so that the message is processed
by the ATyS.
The standard communications frame consists of:
Slave address

Function code

Address

Slave address: communicating device address (Add,

menu Comm parameters)
Function codes:
3: to read n words (maximum 128).
6: to write one word.
8: to diagnose exchanges between the master and the
slave via meters 1, 3, 4, 5 and 6.
16: to write n words (maximum 128).

Data

CRC 16

NB:
When selecting slave address 0, a message is sent to all
the instruments present on the network (only for functions 6 and 16).
Comment:
The response time (time out question/answer) is 250 ms
maximum.

Address: concerned variable address (refer to following

tables)
Values: parameters linked to function (number of
words, value).
