Have you ever known someone who is
deeply and genuinely happy? p. 179
When you read this question, you start to
think of everyone that is close to you that is a very happy person usually and then you start thinking more deeply and realize that theyve been sad and had hardships before. I dont know anyone who is genuinely happy all of the time.
Can we ever be as happy as they are?
p.179
If youre the one that is asking this question
then you need to change your life around in a way that makes you a better and happier person so that others can ask that question and ask themselves to be as happy as you.
happiness is like obscenity: We cant
define it, but we know it when we see it. p.184
I dont think anyone can truly define
happiness. We just know that we are happy and joyful. We can definitely see happiness in people. If someone is always laughing and smiling or you realize you are, then you know you are happy and others can tell.
If youre not happy today, then you wont be
happy tomorrow unless you take things into your own hands and take action. p.185
The statement made is probably one of the
truest things I have ever read. If youre not happy in your current situation then you never will be unless you take matters into your own hands and start to change for the better.
happiness, more than anything, is a state
of mind, a way of perceiving and
I agree with this by saying that happiness is a
state of mind because it truly is. Any event
approaching ourselves and the world in
which we reside. p.185
can make your state of mind change from
happy to sad or vice versa.
You either have it or you dont. p.186
This isnt true at all. People always say that
others are lucky to be happy because you either have happiness or dont. Going along with the previous quote, happiness is a state of mind. It is always there, you just have to make yourself be happy.
It appears that each of us is born with a
happiness set point p.190
This is a very interesting topic. Due to
scientific research, everyone has an apparent happiness set point and whether we are above or below the point, we will come back to the average point. I would like to stay above the average point and be happier than I am supposed to be.
Our genes do not determine our life
experience and behavior. p.190
Just because we might be born with certain
genetics that could possibly make us more sad or happy, our experiences, how we behave, and how we view the world through our eyes are what is going to make us happy or sad.
This means that no matter what your
genetic predisposition, whether or not that predisposition is expressed is in your hands. p.193
I would say the same thing that I did in the
last quote. Our experiences, how we behave, and how we view the world through our eyes are what is going to make us happy or sad.
the fountain of happiness can be found
I believe that they are saying that how you in how you behave, what you think, p.196 behave and carry yourself is dependent on whether you will find the fountain of happiness or not. It is all in your hands. 1.
