1.1 Customize the display of information Although at the bottom of the HOME page of the wiki, we mention
that it is possible to customize the display of information, this is a
technological enhancement that is not yet possible in wikispaces.

2.1 Define vocabulary and symbols These can be defined using the facility offered by Answers.com.
This facility for the time being is only available on the HOME page
of the wiki but we hope will, once technology improves be
enhanced to cover the entire site. Where possible, words are
mapped against visual images for students to make connections.
2.2 Clarify syntax and structure This is not made explicit in the wiki

2.3 Decode text and mathematical notation This is not made explicit in the wiki as the project is on English and
Humanities and does not have any mathematical notations.
2.4 Promote cross-linguistic understanding Students who require, may use the google translator tool on each
page of the wiki. The Voice Threads are however in English only.
2.5 Illustrate key concepts non-linguistically Where required, images, arrows and colors are employed to help
students non-linguistically. These are most evident in the Step
Guide for Glogster (Resources page).

3.1 Provide or activate background knowledge On the Possible Topics page, there are hyperlinks that students can
click on to get background information on both topics.
3.2 Highlight critical features, big ideas, and relationships Critical features are emphasized by size, color and in bold font
throughout the wiki and in Voice Threads.
3.3 Guide information processing Information and resources are organized in the manner in which
students would need them. An overview of the the entire project
on the HOME page also guides students on how to proceed and
make use of the wiki. The Project Guide on the wiki also contains
“FAQ” like questions that help point students towards resources
they may need to process information.
3.4 Support memory and transfer Students have access to the Key project Milestones that allow them
to set reminders for themselves. All material is also available on the
project wiki. This enables students to review and practice their
understanding over again when they feel it is necessary.
