Procedures

Starting the Day:

After meeting the students at their line up spot. Students will hang up
their backpacks on the hooks outside the classroom; I will great
students as the walk in with a smile, nod and greeting; and students
will make their way to our morning circle. We will take 30 seconds in
silence to get ready to learn. Finally we will do a quick check in. After
all have shared, students will walk to their seats and get ready to
learn.

Getting in line:

Getting Students Attention:

To get all students attention, I will clap loudly two times. Students will
stop what they are doing and echo the claps.

Roll Call/Lunch Count:

I will use our check in as roll. At this time I will see who is and is not
there for the day.

Ball check out:

Among other classroom jobs, ball monitor is one. The ball monitor fairly
checks out balls to students and collects all the balls in the class bin at
the end of snack recess and lunch recess.

Sharpen Pencils
If students need to replace their pencil they will get out of their seat,
place the pencil in the dull bucket, and take a pencil from the
sharpened bucket.

Passing in Work
When I want to collect work, the table group representative will collect
all papers and put the papers in the appropriate drop bin. I will have 3
bins.
Red Bin- Urgent
Black Bin- Classwork
Yellow Bin- Tests

Finishing Work Early

Next to the white board where all students can see, I will have Must
Dos and May Dos listed. Students will have a folder with Must Dos
on one side and May Dos on the other side
Students must first complete any Must Dos (unfinished work, priority
work)
Then students can work on May Dos (Less pressing)
In the case that Must Dos and May Dos are complete students will work
on AR (reading, test or visit library)

Transition

To transition to a new activity or lesson and to clean up before lunch or

recess, I will play

Speaking During Lesson

When a student wants to share during a lesson or independent
development time
The student will use ASL symbols.
I I have a question
A I have an answer
C - I have a connection/ comment
Students may only speak without raising their hand if they are
prompted to or if they want to have something repeated by saying
echo
When a student or the teacher hears a student say echo they know
that the student is paying attention but they speaker was not loud or
clear. The speaker will now repeat with a louder voice

Getting out of seat

Students may get out of seat to exchange a dull pencil or get a drink
from their water bottle on the back table.
Bathroom and stretching must be communicated via hand signal. They
will make the ASL letter O to say they need to get up for a quick
stretch, and they will use the ASL letter R to say they need to use
restroom. They will wait for my eye contact and nod before getting up.

Dismissal
I will play the transition/clean up music clip. After students have put
their things away they will push in the chairs. When music stops the
students will share with an elbow partner something they learned or
enjoyed in that school day. If students have work to take home in their
cubbies, I will dismiss by table group to avoid crowding. If students
have nothing in their cubbies, I will thank all students for being they
that day and dismiss them.
