Solubility / thinnability

Bayhytherm 3146 can be diluted with water, esters, ketones, alcohols, glycols
and glycol ethers. However, the solutions formed must be tested for their
storage ability.

Compatibility

Bayhytherm 3146 is compatible with Bayhydrol D 270, PR 135, FT 145, PT

BAYHYTHERM 3146
Properties / Applications

Bayhytherm 3146 is used for the formulation of waterborne, one-component

baking systems such as waterborne fillers or general purpose industrial
coatings. Coatings films based on Bayhytherm 3146 exhibit extraordinary
impact strength, adhesion and overcoatability. Bayhytherm 3146 can also be
used as an additive to conventional waterborne stoving systems to improve
flexibility, impact strength and adhesion.
The product is characterized by greater reactivity and better pigment wetting
and thermal stability than the self-curing products, Bayhytherm VP LS 2153
and Bayhytherm VP LS 2313/1. Because it is easy to dilute, it also offers
advantages with respect to the solids content and filling power of the coating
systems at spray viscosity.
Typical curing parameters are 30 minutes at 130C. The product exhibits
overbaking stability up to 120 minutes at 190C. Slight thermal yellowing may
occur depending on the baking temperature and time. As with any product,
use of Bayhytherm 3146 in a given application must be tested (including but
not limited to field testing) in advance by the user to determine suitability.

Storage

Bayhytherm 3146 should be stored in tightly sealed containers.

Recommended storage temperatures are between 5 and 23C.

Storage time

The shelf life is three months after receipt of material by customer, under
normal conditions.
