ANALYSIS, PRESENTATION, AND INTERPRETATION OF DATA

Presentation and Interpretation of Data

The following graphs presents the data gathered from the experimentation period.
The researchers made a survey regarding the subjects of each classes to know the subjects
that are prone to absences of instructor and their reason. The researchers also selected questions
from the academic performance, attitude and learning outcomes that affects the cadets when
changing of instructors.

In Figure 2.0 and 2.1 shown the percentage of courses that indicates the courses that are
common or prone to change or to have an absent in the courses of Class 2016 Deck and Engine
Department. In the Deck department, the common subject that doesnt have a regular instructor
is the Seamanship 4 31% and Marine Pollution 25%. While the ICT course indicates that there
was no answer wherein it doesnt have an instructor.

The 2.1 Graph is for the Engine

Department. The pie shows clearly that the cadets had a problem in the Powerplant2 that has
75% in the figure. And the other subject like Thermodynamics and Filipino doesnt show results
that they had no instructor or changed instructor.

This shows the bar graph of the respondents rating towards the question what are the
reasons given to them when there is a change or absent instructor. Most instructors are absent or
changed because of their Trainings or Seminars. Second top reason is due to their Affiliation
followed by their Personal reasons. And a very few gave others as reason for absences or change
of instructors.

Table 1. Mean of Respondents Effects of Changes of Instructors to the Academic Performance
On the forgoing table, it shows the mean of cadet respondents score on the factor
Performance, Attitude and Learning Outcome. As seen, the total number of respondents
computed for this table is 120 respondents. Furthermore, it can be noted that the minimum or the
lowest score is 1 and the maximum or the highest score is 5. In the Performance, it has a mean of
3.13 and the standard deviation of the score on is 0.856. In the Attitude, it has a mean of 3.49 and
a standard deviation of 0.619. And in the Learning Outcome, it has a mean of 3.68 and the
standard deviation of 3.68.
As seen on the given table above, the mean of all the factors affecting the academic
performance of the cadets every time instructors are change have a slightly positive result. The
means of the three factors are all above the average between Neither agree nor disagree to
Agree. With this it can be concluded that the change of instructors may affect or not affect the
Performance, Attitude and the Learning Outcome of the cadets when it is encountered in the
class depending also to the kind or type of subject that is left by the instructor to the new.

SUMMARY OF FINDINGS, CONCLUSIONS AND RECOMMENDATIONS

Summary of Findings
From the selected questions, the following data were collected:
1

Common Subjects that had Encountered Change of Instructor

a Class 2016
- The common subject of deck department that was found out to be the one that
encounters changes of instructor is the Seamanship 4 and the least subject that
-

encountered the problem of changing of instructor is the ICT.

The common subject of the Engine department was found out to be the one
that encounters changes of instructor is the Powerplant 2 and they did not had

problems with Filipino 1.

Class 2017
- The subject that encounters the most changes of instructors is found to be,
Personnel Management with 28% of the population of the Deck Cadets, for
the Engine Cadets Philosophy 1 has encountered major changes of instructor

and did not encounter any changes in Math 1 and Electro 3.

Class 2018
- For the class 2018, Deck Department have experienced a trouble of having a
permanent instructor in Deck Watchkeeping 3 likewise for the Engine
Department which is Electro 3. Both course is a professional subject of each
department which affects them negatively when it comes to coping up with

the course timeline

Class 2019
- The Deck Department encountered problems of changing of instructors in
Marine Environment and Social Science 1 while for the Engine Department

almost all of their course changed instructors except for Math 1, NatSci 1 and
2

Physical Education 1.
Reasons of absence or change of instructors given to the cadets
- The most common reason there are absences of instructors or even the need to change
the instructor for a certain subject is due to their Trainings and Seminars. While

Affiliations is the next reason of some instructors.

Effects of change of instructors or absences of instructors to cadets Performance, Attitude
and Learning Outcomes.
a Performance
- When it comes to the performance the Cadets often adjust with the pace of
b

teaching and the way of teaching of the new instructor.

Attitude
- The Attitude of the cadets tend to vary depending on how the new instructor

interacts with the class.

Learning Outcomes
- The learning outcome of each cadet slightly improves because of the extra effort
exerted by the cadets in order for them to easily cope up with the new instructor.

Conclusions
After all the surveys and procedures were conducted a conclusion has been derived, the
academic performance, attitude and learning outcomes of cadets who have experienced
changes/absences of instructors have a slightly positive result based on the data gathered from
different classes. It may also be concluded that changing of instructor may also be a reason for
the cadets performance, attitude and learning outcome vary depending to the change that will be
done.
Recommendations
To the future researchers who would like to work on the same field, the following
recommendations will be of great help:
1 Further analysis on different factors with regards to the effects of the problem to the
2
3
4

Performance, Attitude and Learning Outcomes of cadets

Add more questions about the factors to be considered that affects the cadets.
Advice the respondents with the proper procedure in answering the survey forms
Make some of the instructors part of the respondents to know specifically the reasons of

absences and the change of instructor of a certain subject

Provide a specific timeline to do each procedure for the study
