Cameron House in Chinatown will host their 68th annual

carnival at 920 Sacramento Street this Saturday. I
have agreed to sit on their dunk tank at 2:00 p.m. I
will be hitting the water for about 20 minutes, as one
by one from the community will be giving it their best
shot. Supervisor Peskin will be right before me at 1:40
p.m. so hopefully the community will be tired of
throwing the ball by the time they get to me.

Police Academy Class 252

Yesterday I had the opportunity to host the 252nd Police Academy Class. As part of
their 8 month training, they spend a day in the community learning the culture and
interacting with stakeholders. We focus on community engagement, explaining how
essential the partnership is between the police and the community.
They had a great experience as we had them give out blessing scam awareness
bags in Chinatown, followed by passing out Public Safety Awareness information
about a recent sexual assault in the Ping Yuen. In the afternoon, half of the class
went to Hyde and Lombard Streets for an hour and passed out Park Smart
information to the tourists, warning them about auto burglaries, and the other half
went to Fishermans Wharf and was provided an overview of the Wharf by Troy
Campbell. We completed the day by a debrief at Central Station. I was impressed
with this class and I look forward to receiving a few officers when they graduate in
November. I must not forget the incredible lunch at Mona Lisas. They received the
full North Beach experience!

Central Station Transfers

We congratulate Officers Danny Guo, Courtney Dickson, Edgar Parker, Andrew
Rechsteiner and Ryan Walsh for their great work at Central Station and wish them
well in their new assignments. We welcome Officers Matthew Ortega, Robert
Glenn, Christopher Sabella, and Vincent Busalacchi to Central Station!

I will end this weeks newsletter with some great police work:
On April 30, 2016, Plainclothes Sergeant Jones, with Officers Huang, Reyes and Christensen, while
searching for auto burglars, arrested a suspect for possessing a stolen scooter at Powell and Northpoint.
The officers recovered heroin, methamphetamine, cocaine, 2500 in cash and other evidence. An outstanding
arrest!
Have a great weekend!
