mostlymiddleclassbackgrounds.Theyareaccustomedtobeing
responsiblefortheirlearningtasksandgenerallyfollowteacher
instructions.Tendenciesofdoingschoolsometimesinterfere
withbuildingmeaningfrominstructionalinterventions.Aswith
mostadolescents,membersofthisgroup,too,areverysocial,
easilydistracted,andlookforimmediategratification.Students
displaymotivationtolearnwhentheirowninterestsare
addressed,whenthelearningisslightlymoredifficultthanwhat
theycaneasilydo,andwhenlearninginvolvestheirpeers.While
sociallearningmotivatesthem,itcaneasilyderailtheirattempts
tolearn.
