1. The purpose of large spring loaded valve in a radiator

cap is to pressurize the system which raises the boiling
point of the coolant.
2. The direction of the flow of water through the radiator of a
cooling system is from back to the front.
3. The main purpose of the fan of a liquid cooling system for
an engine is to give an air flow when the vehicle speed is low.
4. The principle of a radiator of an engine cooling system is to
spread out the hot water over a large area.
5. The thermostat use in the majority of modern engine cooling
is a type called alcohol.
6. The thermostat is normally positioned in the cooling system
between the engine water jacket and header hose.
7. Extra care must be taken when removing a modern radiator
cap from a hot engine because the cooling pressure is lower
than atmospheric.

VALVE TIMING
The intake valve starts to open before the piston begins its intake stroke ( before
it reaches TDC ) and closes after it reaches BDC (during the compression stroke)
The exhaust valve opens before the piston enters the exhaust stroke and closes
after TDC ( after entering the intake stroke ). The valve opening and closing
timing is called valve timing . generally valve timing is expressed in terms of
the crankshaft angle from the piston TDC or BDC.
REFERENCE
Both the intake and exhaust valves are open for some time from the final stage of
the exhaust stroke. This is called valve overlap Generally a larger valve
overlap gives better high-speed performance, but causes unstable idling.
