Dear Readers,

This issue is a very special one for me.


Not only because it marks a year since the
idea for the magazine was born, but as
our special Mother’s Day issue, it cele-
brates the women in our lives who made
it all possible. I’m truly blessed to have
had a number of strong women through-
out my life – women who have taken care
of me and taught me about resilience and

tember 2001, Greg’s mother Susan was

2009, a non-profit organization dedicated

SUGAR COOKIES

8 oz butter (softened)
10 oz granulated sugar
TURKEY CHEDDAR SCONES 1 tsp salt
2 oz egg
1lb 8 oz bread flour 2 oz whole milk
1lb 8 oz all purpose flour 1/4 oz pure vanilla extract
8 oz sugar 1/4 oz lemon oil COOKIE ICING
1/2 oz salt 1lb 4 oz cake flour
1lb 3 oz butter (cold, cubed) 2 pasteurized egg whites
5/8 oz baking powder
2 1/2 oz baking powder 1 lemon (juiced)
3 eggs 1 1/2 cups powdered sugar
1 lb 5 oz milk (more or less to taste) (more or less to taste)
