Read the following problems and answer the questions.

1. A 50 m steel tape weighs 0.05 kg/m.This tape was used in the field to measure a distance that was determined
to be 458.650 m. At the time the measurement was made, the constant pull applied was 8kg with the tape
supported only at endpoints. Determine the correct length of the line

from B. Determine the true difference in elevation between the points A and B
3. In a compass survey made 50 years ago, the observed magnetic bearing of a reference line AB was S5018E
when the magnetic declination was 815 east. At present, a new survey was made and the declination in the same
locality changed to 1210 west. Determine the true azimuth of the line at present
4. With a dumpy level, a rod reading of 2.50 m was observed to a leveling rod which is 100 m away. When the
bubble was leveled through 5 spaces on the level tube, the reading changes to 2.58 m, find the radius of the
curvature of the level tube if each division on the level tube is 0.6 mm.
5. The table below are stadia readings taken by a transit set at point A with stadia interval factor of 100.8 and stadia
constant of 0.381. Determine the difference in elevation between points X and Y.

6. Hill B has an elevation of 338.253 m while Hill A and C has an elevation of 336.264m and 352.428m
respectively. The distance of Hill A and C from B are 16.608 km and 11.878 km respectively. Find the height of
equal tower which is to be constructed at A and C so that the line of sight would clear Hill B by 3 m.
7. In the two-peg test of a dumpy level, the following observations are taken: with level set up at M (midway
between A and B), the rod readings on A and B are 1.155 m and 1.770 m, respectively. With level at P, the rod
reading on A is 2.423 m and that on B is 2.999. If point P is located 1.67m from A along the extension of line AB
and 76.910 m from B, the correct reading on the near rod for a horizontal line of sight should be

11. A 30 m tape weighing 0.55 kg with a cross sectional area of 0.02 cm2 was standardized and found to be 30.005

89 m over terrain of a uniform 5 percent slope. The temperature was constant at 30C and tension of 5 kg was
applied to each tape length.Determine the corrected distance
12. A magnetic bearing of N 3430W is recorded on an old survey plan dated Jan 15, 1910. It is desired to
reestablished this direction on the site in 1977. The 1970 chart shows a declination of 10W for the area, with
an annual change of 2 eastward. If the true bearing of a line is N 4630W, calculate the magnetic bearing on
