Our parish Catholic schools invite parishioners to join them

from May 2nd-7th. During this week, the Catholic

Baptism
Our Lady of Sorrows parish celebrates the sacrament of
Baptism during the Sunday Mass. This form of celebration
allows the parish community to provide prayerful support to
the newly baptized and their parents through the Sunday
Eucharist. It is not the mind of the Church that Baptism be
celebrated privately (individually) but as a true celebration
of initiation into a particular parish community.
Usually, these celebrations take place on the first Sunday of
the month -- although the liturgical calendar and parish
commitments will also suggest other Sundays. Parents
should always consult the office staff before making any
definite plans, since there is a limit to the numbers that can
be accommodated on any given Sunday.
Now and again, former parishioners or the adult children of
current parishioners ask to celebrate Baptism at OLS. It is
sometimes possible to accommodate them at one of the
regular Sunday celebrations. However, for this to take place,
the written permission of their parish priest is required; they
will also be expected to complete the Baptism preparation
programme of their current parish.
When parishioners ask to have another priest or deacon
celebrate the Baptism of their child, they will normally be
invited to celebrate the Baptism in the parish to which that
priest (deacon) is assigned.
Parents and godparents are seated at the front of the church
for the Baptism; guests find a place within the assembly.
Photography is not permitted during the Baptism Mass.
The office staff will assist you in these matters.
