Reflection: Human Experience

My name is Akil J Martin. I am currently a Junior at UNCC with a major of preaccounting. For the Spring Semester of 2016, I took many classes including UWRT 1102. I
never considered myself as an excellent writer, as I know I could be more efficient in that area.
UWRT 1102 was a very beneficial course for me because we not only did writing assignments
but socialized, met new people and not being from USA, I learnt a lot about this great country.
But the main goal of the class was to assist in making your writing skills better and doing writing
pieces. The writing assignments and blogs that were required of the class were help to him, as
the feedback from the teacher states where am strong and weak in my writing and thats how I
would know where to improve. Overall, I felt that it was a successful semester in UWRT 1102,
as I accomplished all my projects, tasks and blogs that were required of us to do. Also, creating
the portfolio was challenging at first but I got it done before it was due.
During the semester, I learnt the difference between a human and a human being. Human
is distinguishing a person from other species but also a person that looks after their self. On the
other hand, Human beings are known as individuals who are driven to elevate themselves, other
individuals and also the environment as it maybe mutually beneficial. However, I have also been
a human being in my perspective, as I have always been kind, helpful and motivational to
anyone. Fortunately, that was not the only content of the semester I learnt. I have learnt Student
Learning Outcomes which taught critical reading and critical writing. They would be essential to
my life as they would have me carefully understanding journals, contracts or even an article.
However, as a student in higher education I have learnt from this class that writing is about being
creative and being free in writing in what I want. I also learnt about paradox which is A paradox

is a statement that contradicts itself and yet might be true (or wrong at the same time). I have
also learnt about how to make conversation with strangers by doing a task called Pivot &
Williams. We did many tasks and a few projects which were handed over before the deadlines. I
also attended to class often besides the days I was sick.
In closing, I have maintained a high grade during the semester by putting my all in the
projects and task. I also made the effort to attend to class, ask questions on topics which I was
not clear about and socialized with my peers. Therefore, this semester in UWRT 1102 was
interesting, fun and beneficial.
