AMIR’S SPEECH

In the name of Allah, the uncreated creator of every creature on earth. We beseech
His ceaseless blessing on the soul of the unlettered prophet, the noblest among
mankind – Muhammed, of Abdullah (SAW), his household, companions and the
sincere followers till the day of manifestation.

The Honourable father of the Day – Alhajij Taofeek Elabute, the Highly respected
mother of the day – Alhaja Teslimat Akinwande, the special Guest of Honour – Alhaj
Abdul Fatai Olayinka Ibrahim, the spiritual father of the day – Alhaji Abdul Rasak
Sanusi, the chairman of the occasion, Alhaji Sulaiman Dhilkrullah Ogunmuyiwa, the
Chairperson – Alhaja Rekia Ajao, the Guest Lecturer Ustadh Taoheed Abdul
Hammed, the past leaders on seat and my dear fellow braothers and sisters of this
council, I welcome you all to this memorable occasion by saying As – salam
Alaykum Warahamatullahi Wabarakatuhu.

Today 12 December, 2009 is a red letter day in the history of this council, no doubt
another history is about to be made as we are about electing another set of leaders
that will direct the affairs of the council for the next 2 years.

Conference to so many bodies or organizations may mean various thing but to us

here it is an avenue where we constructively criticize one another, evaluate,
assess, correct and set a new pace for the in – coming executive. This came as a
result of our understanding of prophet’s Muhammed saying “assess yourself before
you are assessed”. You may not witness more of this because it had been taken
care of at the floor of our pre – conference. We do hope that you will in your own
part assess our activities, advise where necessary and put us back on the track if
we seem to be maining out of track. It said that no matter that number of a child
new clothes he cannot more of torn clothes like an elder. You have once been where
we are today. So, we need your advice.

Distinguished elders on seat, we here chosen back to our heritage as the topic of
discussion for today and we have chosen an erudite and well versed lecturer,
ustadh Taoheed Abdul Hammed to discuss the topic. In fact, I will say he is the right
person for the job. He remain the longest served Amir in the history of our greet
council. I remember he handed over to me 4 years ago. What I’m saying is we that
we went to maintain our heritage, the heritage Allah, passed to the prophet, the
heritage prophet passed to the companions, the heritage the companions to you the
heritage you passed to us, we want to live by, stand by it and due for it.

I must express my joyful mood and heart felt appreciation to the elders on seat. No
doubt this is the first time we will have an enviable oppurtunity to interact with our
leaders, be together and take adviser from them as a child takes advise from his
