TCOAProxy Package Installation Instructions

1 Overview
The TNMS-Core/CDM software consists of the Core/CDM Component software itself and a set of
additional Packages.
These packages contain components for the various Core/CDM configurations - SysAdmin, Client,
Server and NetServer.
Additionally, the corresponding drivers must be installed, the system must be configured accordingly
and third-party SW has to be installed.
This ReadMe File describes the installation of the TCOAProxy Package SW.
The installation sequence for the other components should correspond to the sequence of this
document.
For further information, see the manual "TNMS-Core/CDM V12.00 Installation Manual (IMN)".

2 Installation of corresponding drivers

Please follow the directions of the manufacturer of your HW devices.

3 Installation of the TNMS-Core/CDM Component

Ensure that only one of the following TNMS-Core/CDM versions is installed and running:

TNMS-Core/CDM V12.00
Notice that no other previous version of TNMS or ENMS SW can be running or installed i.e.

Only one main version of TNMS-Core/CDM and optionally an Upgrade Package or

Service Pack can be active at the same time!

4 How to Install the TCOAProxy Package SW

These instructions describe how to install the TCOAProxy Package SW for TNMS-Core/CDM.

4.1 Installation Requirements

The system requirements depend on the adopted TNMS-Core/CDM configuration. For additional
information, please see the TNMS-Core/CDM V12.00 Installation Manual (IMN).
For installation, use the CD-ROM labeled TNMS-Core/CDM V12.00 Application SW.

4.2 The Installation Procedure

The TCOAProxy Package installation can be performed either integrated into the TNMS-Core/CDM or
as a stand-alone package.
These two methods present different behaviors and appearances.

4.2.1 Integrated part of TNMS

The installation of TCOAProxy as an integrated package of TNMS-Core/CDM is not visible as a
separate setup.
You may only be asked to select or deselect the package and get some information about installation
progress.

4.2.2 Installation as a standalone package

The installation presents a different behavior and appearance depending on whether TCOAProxy
Package is already installed or not.

First Time Installation

TCOAProxy Package does not exist - it will be installed for the first time.
For additional details, see 4.3 - First Time Installation

TCOAProxy Package Installation Instructions

Maintenance Installation: Modify Mode

TCOAProxy Package is already installed but the user wants to modify it (include/exclude
components).
For additional details, see 5.1 - Modify Mode

Maintenance Installation: Repair Mode

TCOAProxy Package is already installed but the user wants to repair the current installation, to
restore some missing and/or corrupted files. The original selection and settings are assumed.
For additional details, see 5.2 - Repair Mode

Maintenance Installation: Remove Mode

TCOAProxy Package is already installed but the user wants to completely de-install it.
For additional details, see 5.3 - Remove Mode

4.3 First Time Installation

The installation program executes the installation of the TCOAProxy Package SW program under
Microsoft Windows XP or Microsoft Windows Server 2003.
It copies and unpacks all necessary files into the corresponding directories and adapts the system to
fit the application of TNMS-Core/CDM.
Prior to starting installation, all currently running programs and opened documents must be closed.
Installation sequence:
1. Starting the Installation
2. License conditions
3. Register user
4. Select destination directory
5. Summary prior to copying
6. File copy
7. Entries into Windows' registry database
8. If applicable, a restart is requested.

4.3.1 Starting
The following description applies to a CD-ROM distribution. In other cases, similar proceedings must
be adopted, only differing in the location of the setup.exe file.

insert it into the appropriate computer drive and memorize the drive name (e.g. D: ).

from the Start button, usually in the lower left corner of the screen, select "Run"

using the memorized drive name, type <Drive>\Install_TNMS-Core\TCOAProxy\Setup.exe, where

<Drive> corresponds to the memorized drive name
Example:

D:\Install_TNMS-Core\TCOAProxy\Setup.exe

press the OK button.

After starting and loading the installation program, a welcome logo appears.
Important notes:
The installation program may also be started by double clicking the file Setup.exe using the explorer.
To successfully start the installation program, some files must be copied to your hard disk. The
amount of required space (during startup) is about 1 Mbyte the approximate size can be obtained
from the "setup.ini" file (look for the name "FreeDiskSpace=") of the first installation media.
The environment variable TMP or TEMP that may have been set in an existing autoexec.bat file
determines the target directory for these files.

TCOAProxy Package Installation Instructions

If this variable is undefined, files will be copied into \TMP or \TEMP. If you have more than one hard
disk or more than one logical partition, this directory relates to the hard disk that contains the
Windows operating system.
If the needed space on the hard disk is not available the installation program will immediately abort.
You will be guided through the installation.
Please follow the instructions given on screen.
Dialogue boxes containing a "Back" button allow you to return to a previous dialogue, e.g. to alter
user input.

4.3.2 License conditions

Read carefully the license conditions of the TCOAProxy Package, and select

"YES" if you agree to all the specified conditions.

"NO" if you do not agree with any specified condition. In such situation, you will not be able to
install the TCOAProxy Package.

4.3.3 Register user

Insert user name and the name of your company into the specified text fields.
By default the setup suggests the registration information taken from the operating system
installation.

4.3.4 Select destination directory

Select the installation directory.
The suggested destination is the TCOAProxy directory below the TNMS-Core/CDM root directory.
However, you can specify a different location.
In such case, use the "Browse" button to navigate easily along the file system. If you specify a nonexistent directory, it will be created automatically.

4.3.5 Summary prior to copying

Please check the summarized settings carefully.
If you are not satisfied with them press the Back button and modify settings.

4.3.6 File copy

The files belonging to the TCOAProxy Package SW are copied into the destination directory. Additional
sub-directories and/or files may also be created/copied.
The TCOAProxy Package may also require some system libraries (*.dll), which will be copied to the
Windows system directory (e.g. C:\WinNT\System32).
If some of these files already exist, they will be automatically replaced based on their internal
versions and dates. In general, files are replaced when the installed version is older than the one
contained in the package. For similar versions, the most recent file is selected.
Please note that setup needs to store its own files onto hard disk to allow later modification or deinstallation. Such files are copied to a hidden directory below <System_Drive>:\Program Files. Do
never alter anything in this directory! Files will remain there till de-installation.

4.3.7 Entries into the Windows' Registry Database

The installation program creates and adapts entries into the Windows' registry database to match the
needs of the installed version.

4.3.8 Reboot the computer

When some libraries mentioned in 4.3.6 have been copied or files to copy already exist and are
locked, the installation program will automatically reboot the computer after finishing the installation,
to allow a proper replacement of these files.
