Without a doubt, the $16 billion professional search industry remains a critical, untapped
market which Volt can and must address as the company grows to its fullest potential.
To accomplish this task, I am pleased to announce the formation of Volt Professional
Search (VTR), which is founded on a robust and innovative new business methodology
for this critical-to-business goal. It also gives me great pleasure to announce the
promotion of Patrick Cronin to Vice President of Volt Professional Search, who will
spearhead this new business initiative.
Pat has 23 years of experience in the Search and Staffing industry, 16 of which have
been at Volt. With a strong background in sales, recruitment, and management, Pat
possesses a wealth of industry knowledge, combined with extensive work in multiple
important markets such as Portland, Seattle, San Francisco and LA. In addition to being
a Six Sigma Black Belt, Pat has extensive experience in client development and in
building client-centric solutions in both professional search and contract staffing. Pat
also has a strong background in development, policies and procedures, operational
strategies, product service offerings and process improvements.
“The result is a dynamic and new industry model, which we believe will establish us as a
world class professional search organization. This new model is firmly based on
extensive market research, analysis of business trends, review of emerging markets and
use of Six Sigma tools to identify the best combination of process and talent. As a
result, we are now poised to unleash the full potential of our most critical asset …our
people.”

key to empowering individual employees to master what they do best and unleashing
our greatest potential. Therefore we are following a two-pronged approach to sales.
The first is relying upon our BDMs to generate requisitions from existing customers. The
second is the introduction of a new position, Practice Manager, whose sole responsibility
is to sell professional search services. Practice Managers will focus on an individual
vertical market and will initially target, but not be limited to, the Fortune 50.
Volt Professional Search will provide better service to existing customers on Level 1 and
2 requisitions in key sectors, reduce the existing cost structure, and adopt a new
business model. Accomplishing this will involve the implementation of a new:
- Sales strategy
- Recruiting strategy
- Organizational structure, and
- Process flow
Sales Strategy
Our go-to-market strategy is based on our existing VTR BDMs and, in the future, the
introduction of a sales force consisting of Practice Managers. These Practice Managers
will focus on key vertical markets, in collaboration with Professional Search Managers
who will focus on in horizontal niche sectors. We believe that this focus on industry
specialties is key to our competitive advantage. The Volt Professional Search structure
will enable us to fulfill the most exacting requisitions and standards of our customers as
quickly and dependably as possible.
Recruiting Strategy
Search Managers will manage a group of recruiters who will focus on specific horizontal
niche sectors (electrical/mechanical engineering, programming/developing, IT
professionals/management, system admin/networking, etc.). They will utilize their
expertise to focus on Level 1 and 2 requisitions, filling the most viable orders in their
specific niche. Importantly, their network development and ability to market candidates
without restriction to geographic boundaries will support the higher fee structure
articulated by the Practice Managers to their clients.
We generally expect that all current Professional Placement Recruiters and managers
will transfer to a unit of Volt Professional Search that aligns with their expertise in a
specific horizontal niche sector.
In addition, Volt Professional Search will open a Sourcing Center in Cleveland, Ohio, to
support Level 3 requisitions nationally. A group of dedicated sourcing center recruiters
will focus on these high-volume, speed of delivery, low touch, and active candidate
opportunities.
