The carburetor on these models have been factory preset to C.A.R.B and EPA emissions regulations. The
throttle valve needle has been preset and sealed to insure compliance with these regulations. Throttle
valve needle adjustment controls the mixture at idle. High speed operation is controlled by a Hi speed
needle. Extended operation above 1,100 ft. requires Hi speed needle adjustment to insure the engine continues to comply with emissions regulations.
Required Tools: Carburetor adjustment screw driver, limiter cap removal tool P/N 91075, electronic digital
tachometer capable of sensitivity to 10 RPM increments (ECHO recommends PET-304
P/N G310000050), and (2) limiter caps P/N P005001270
For PE, HCA, and SHC models install SRM-266 shaft and follow previous instructions for head line length.
PAS-266 models must have trimmer attachment 99944200540 installed for proper engine loading.

IMPORTANT : After adjusting carburetor, the limiter cap(s) must be installed in Idle and Hi
speed mixture needle hole(s) to comply with Emission Regulation.
NOTE: WOT, and idle speed in field operation may vary from final adjustment specifications
due to changing ambient conditions, fuel, and engine loads. Safe engine speed variances
should be within the WOT and idle speed ranges listed, otherwise the carburetor should be
readjusted.
IMPORTANT!
If cutting attachment continues to move at idle, lower idle until cutting attachment
stops rotating. If unit will not idle below clutch engagement speed, check clutch, clutch
springs and clutch drum for damage. Make sure cutting attachment is at rest at idle before returning the unit to the customer.
Carburetor adjustments with cap(s) removed must be conducted by Authorized Emission Certified Dealers only. Limiter cap(s) must be installed by a certified dealer before
unit is put into service.
ATTENTION!
The dealer must supply the unit to the customer in the original configuration, which
includes having the limiter cap(s) in place.
Knowingly removing or rendering inoperative a device, element or design installed on or
in a non-road engine which is in compliance with E. P. A. or C. A. R. B. regulation is classified as tampering. Tampering is a violation of FEDERAL LAW, resulting in significant
civil penalties (fines) of up to $37,500 for each violation.
