Air is a unique integrated wireless Triple play point to multipoint system solution on the telecommunication market, providing microwave
radio access to all the residential and business users in a radius of over 15km from every base station. An operator (CATV, ISP, incumbent,
others) is able to provide all services, users are looking for today digital TV broadcast (more than 100 digital TV programs in DVD or HD
quality at the same time), Broadband Internet, VoIP telephony, FAX services, Pay per View, Video on Demand, Telemetry, etc.
Standards used in the Air system are the same as in bidirectional digital cable TV networks DVB-T and HDTV for TV broadcast and
DOCSIS/EuroDOCSIS for IP transfer (including VoIP). The downstream distributes TV and RA programs and IP traffic as in standard
CATV network (the broadcast is similar to Satellite broadcast), upstream consist of IP traffic only (including VoIP) in the direction from
the end user to the Main station. The same system can be used in a standard coaxial, analog or digital cable TV network or in a combined
network (wireless and cable), providing both TV and IP access over wireless and coaxial cable infrastructure. The Air system is suitable to
expand the network and service portfolio of ISPs, mobile operators, incumbents.
By implementing the AIR system, an operator is able to provide the most advanced triple play services to his customer base, by having low
customer acquisition cost, Fast Deployment and Immediate start of Revenues resulting in Return on Investment typically
in 18 to 30 month.

The Point to Point radio link
provides an exclusive bidirectional wireless
connection between the main and base
station (if they are in different locations)
and feeds the multipoint antennas at the
remote base stations. The Point to Point
connection transports the same frequency
bandwidth, produced at the Main and
base station. The microwave connection
transports the whole transmitted and
received uncompressed frequency.
Base station
Base station
The multipoint antenna enables bidirectional communication between the main
station and end-users.
DOWNSTREAM
The multipoint transmitter receives the signal from the AIR main station on the
interfrequency. The signal is then converted to high TX frequency (Downstream
transmission frequency) filtered and amplified. The bandwidth of the frequency is the
same as the bandwidth received from main station. The Downstream transmission
frequency is then transmitted through the antenna with a typical gain of 10 dB
(depending on the frequency and antenna system Omni directional, sectorized).
UPSTREAM
The multipoint receiver receives and down converts the high frequency signal
(upstream receiving frequency), filters and amplifies it and then sends it to the AIR
Wireless internet transport system which is connected to a CMTS. If needed, the
signal can be also transmitted from the base station to the CMTS through coaxial cable
network, fiber optical backbone or microwave radio link.
The end user equipment includes an antenna with the AIR transceiver, which allows bidirectional communication
with the base station, the AIR settop box (Dolby digital sound) and a standard cable modem for IP traffic and
an optional IP or analog telephone(connected to SIP server interface).
Outdoor unit
DOWNSTREAM
The AIR transceiver receives the downstream transmission frequency which
transports TV and IP (data and voice) content through the dish antenna and
filters the signal before down converting it to a UHF signal. The UHF signal is
then transmitted through a coaxial cable to a splitter which splits the signal to a
cable modem (for IP traffic) and to the AIR receiver box (for TV and RA service).
(Multiple AIR settop boxes and modems can be connected to the same
outdoor unit)
UPSTREAM
The AIR transceiver receives a DOCSIS/EuroDOCSIS signal, containing upstream
IP content, from the cable modem, filters and amplifies it. The signal is then
converted to the upstream receiving frequency and transmitted with a typical RF
power of 10 dBm (with automatic gain control according to the CMTS instructions)
to the antenna and then transmitted through the antenna with a gain of 25 dB
(heavily depending on frequency and antenna size). Signal modulation is in
accordance with the DOCSIS/EuroDOCSIS standard, the RF power is controlled
by the CMTS. Maximum broadband bandwidth per user complies with the DOCSIS/
EuroDOCSIS standard. The unit is compatible with DOCSIS/EuroDOCSIS 1.0, 1.1,
2.0, 3.0 and future DOCSIS/EuroDOCSIS standards
REMARK: In case of TV and RA services only, AIR receiver (simpler version) can be
used.
