A force to be reckoned with.
We live in a world where women are still underrepresented in electoral politics,
which means we have to fight twice as hard for our voices to be heard.
According to U.N. Women, just 22 percent of parliamentarians around the world ar
e women. As of this past August, 21 women served as the Head of State or Head of
Government of their respective countries, and as of January 2015, just 17 perce
nt of government ministers were women.
However, when it comes to grassroots political movements, women are there, makin
g sure they are seen and heard. From American women gathering in Washington, DC
to protest police brutality to Pakistani women flooding the streets to speak out
against oppressive security crackdowns, these women are a force to be reckoned
with.
In honor of International Womens Day on March 8th, weve rounded up gorgeous, emoti
onal and powerful photos of women organizing and protesting all over the world f
rom the last 25 years. Below are 60 images that show just how formidable a woman

I think there is one photo missing. The reason of the protest on Valentines day
on 2015 was the assult and murder of Ozgecan Aslan. The funeral ceremony turned
into a protest because, the women didn t want any more manhandling of her body.

ing for Disability Rights over the past 30 years. This list simply promotes segr

ual rights is still a struggle for women all over the world. These women rightfu
lly deserve their spot in this photo essay. As for disability rights, correct me
if I m wrong, but there are already many laws in place in the US for the disabl

Stephanie Woodward is so right in both her taking issue that disability rights a
nd women protesting for disability rights were left out of this beautiful collec
tion of photos, and in trying to explain why women with disabilities deserve to
be included, and that they have so much to protest. Laws that are supposed to gu
arantee our rights have indeed been passed. But are they enforced? Are they even
recognized by some people? The answer is a resounding NO! Laws like the Civil R
ights Act of 1964, and the recent Marriage Equality act, the Fair Housing Act of
the 1980s, and so many more are on the books, but NONE of those have stopped di
scrimination from continuing on a daily basis. Instead of questioning why some o
f us would think we should be included, you should be embracing the inclusion of
ALL women , from ALL marginalized and excluded groups (including Trans women).
If feminism does not include us ALL, then it is indeed segregated, and needs to
fixed!

Loved the diversity in these photos, but I was very disappointed that there was
not one photo of women with disabilities protesting for disability rights.....es
pecially the right to remain in our own homes and communities with the services
and supports we need, instead of being forced into nursing homes and other insti
tutions where we are warehoused, abused, and away from family and friends, parti
cularly those of us in rural areas.

Is that dog better than her mother to clean his shits whereas leaving her mother
