A force to be reckoned with.
We live in a world where women are still underrepresented in electoral politics,
which means we have to fight twice as hard for our voices to be heard.
According to U.N. Women, just 22 percent of parliamentarians around the world ar
e women. As of this past August, 21 women served as the Head of State or Head of
Government of their respective countries, and as of January 2015, just 17 perce
nt of government ministers were women.
However, when it comes to grassroots political movements, women are there, makin
g sure they are seen and heard. From American women gathering in Washington, DC
to protest police brutality to Pakistani women flooding the streets to speak out
against oppressive security crackdowns, these women are a force to be reckoned
with.
In honor of International Womens Day on March 8th, weve rounded up gorgeous, emoti
onal and powerful photos of women organizing and protesting all over the world f
rom the last 25 years. Below are 60 images that show just how formidable a woman
with convictions can be:

beautiful. i am mostly touched by the polish mothers who breastfeed their babies
. It truly is the most amazing thing in the world. Any dick who can t deal with
that, has issues himself. My wife breastfeeds my son, and everytime I am in awe
of the sheer beauty of that moment.
Humanity is beautiful, humans often times not so much.

I think there is one photo missing. The reason of the protest on Valentines day
on 2015 was the assult and murder of Ozgecan Aslan. The funeral ceremony turned
into a protest because, the women didn t want any more manhandling of her body.
So her body was carried from the prayers to grave by women.

Hey Huffington post if you lack resources to include in your coverage Egyptian w
omen who lead the largest protest in history of mankind , fought tyrants and got
shot dead in broad day light, maybe you could try google and search for "Egypti
an women protests " and Egytian women activism, and by the way you don t have to
narrow your search with time frame of 25 years,as with Egyptian women our activ
ism roots dates back to thousands of years where ISIS our ancient queen fought S
eth the God of destruction, but thanks to prejudice western media and similar ba
sis as with your story, ISIS name was canabilaized and granted to a terrorist or
ganisation ...so when you put yourself as judge of top 60 photos of representing
protests against under representation remember to practice wha you preach or is
it just inconvenient to your personal prejudice that millions of women proteste
d against the fanatic Muslim brotherhood the cradle of extremism

Seriously ... anger about not every protest being included. 60 pictures cannot i

How can you possibly have 60 photos of women protesting but not include ANY pict
ures of women with disabilities? There are MANY photos of disabled women protest
ing for Disability Rights over the past 30 years. This list simply promotes segr
egated feminism.

Segregated feminism?? What agenda are you pushing?! The fact is, feminism and eq
ual rights is still a struggle for women all over the world. These women rightfu
lly deserve their spot in this photo essay. As for disability rights, correct me
if I m wrong, but there are already many laws in place in the US for the disabl
ed, many of them vigorously enforced in courts.

Stephanie Woodward is so right in both her taking issue that disability rights a
nd women protesting for disability rights were left out of this beautiful collec
tion of photos, and in trying to explain why women with disabilities deserve to
be included, and that they have so much to protest. Laws that are supposed to gu
arantee our rights have indeed been passed. But are they enforced? Are they even
recognized by some people? The answer is a resounding NO! Laws like the Civil R
ights Act of 1964, and the recent Marriage Equality act, the Fair Housing Act of
the 1980s, and so many more are on the books, but NONE of those have stopped di
scrimination from continuing on a daily basis. Instead of questioning why some o
f us would think we should be included, you should be embracing the inclusion of
ALL women , from ALL marginalized and excluded groups (including Trans women).
If feminism does not include us ALL, then it is indeed segregated, and needs to
fixed!

Marsha Rose Katz ---You and Stephanie are the ones excluding yourselves. Feminis
m includes ALL women. You guys want to make this an issue about the disabled not
having enough rights and that s just NOT true. Here s the exact law: "The ADA p
rohibits discrimination on the basis of disability in employment, State and loca
l government, public accommodations, commercial facilities, transportation, and
telecommunications. It also applies to the United States Congress." Please stop
taking away from these brave female protesters.

strong), Israeli women who have been standing in protest just down the block fr
om the Prime Minister s residence every Friday afternoon since 1988, standing si

not one photo of women with disabilities protesting for disability rights.....es
pecially the right to remain in our own homes and communities with the services

That is so true. Despite more than 37 laws, executive and administrative orders
pertaining to protect women and children, the victims of violence are getting yo
unger and the abusers are becoming bolder and harsher, according to Center for W
omen s Resources CWR. CWR also cited data from the Philippine Statistics Authori
ty (PSA), indicating that compared to the several thousands of rape cases, only
7,416 were in jail in December 2012. Impunity and exploitation are roots of unre
solved cases of violence against women and children.
"It is a culture where the powerful dominates the powerless. The powerful contro
ls the economic and political setting. Such domination is translated in the trea
tment of women, especially those who belong to the marginalized sector," CWR sai
d.

What about women in Iraq, Egypt, Syria, Palestine, and so on? What do you think
in them? Women or not?
There are millions of images could be better than these to tell clear message to
the world how much women suffering because she wanted to be positive and has en
courage enough to fight.
Thousands of women arrested and killed in Egypt within last three years but nobo
dy knows because they are not agree with your ideology, that s it.
Please stop theorizing, stop playing Compassionate role. Enough is enough.

Last year in Hungary, I had saw my neighbor "she is a girl" in a walk with her d
og, when the dog evacuate, the girl slop and pulled the gloves and cleaned the s
hits of the dog smiling. The same girl was leaving her mother sleeping outside i
n the cold weather because she does not control the urine.
Is that dog better than her mother to clean his shits whereas leaving her mother
out in the cold?
Can you understand now why asked you to stop?
You are establishing Misconceptions, double standards, it s far away from ethica
l principles and never lead to better world we need.
